What are the main types of desulfurization process

Flue gas desulfurization is divided into: wet, semi-dry, dry three categories of desulfurization process.

Wet desulfurization technology is more mature, high efficiency, simple operation. Traditional limestone / lime - gypsum method of flue gas desulphurization process using calcium-based desulphurizer to absorb sulfur dioxide generated calcium sulfite, calcium sulfate, due to its small solubility, it is very easy to form in the desulphurization tower and pipeline fouling, clogging phenomenon. Bi-alkali flue gas desulfurization technology is developed to overcome the shortcomings of limestone-lime method is easy to scale.

With the increase of motor vehicles, automobile exhaust has become a major source of atmospheric pollution, and acid rain has become more frequent as a result, seriously jeopardizing buildings, soil and the human environment. As a result, countries around the world have proposed higher oil quality standards to further limit the sulfur, olefin, and benzene content in oil products to better protect human living space.

With the increase in processing of sulfur-containing crude oil and the popularization of catalytic cracking of heavy oil, the phenomena of excessive sulfur content and poor stability of oil products are getting more and more serious. Due to the limitations of hydrodesulfurization in terms of capital and hydrogen source, it is of great significance for small and medium-sized refineries to carry out research on non-hydrofinishing. This paper briefly introduces the progress and future development trend of non-hydrodesulfurization technology.

New Desulfurization Technology? :

Oxidative desulfurization technology is to oxidize thiophene sulfide into sulfoxide and sulfone by oxidizing agent, and then remove the sulfoxide and sulfone from the oil by solvent extraction, and the oxidizing agent is regenerated and recycled.

Currently, low-sulfur diesel is produced by hydrogenation technology. Because the dimethyldibenzothiophene in diesel is structurally stable and not easy to hydrodesulfurize, in order to reduce the sulfur content of the oil to 10 μg/g, higher reaction pressure and lower airspeed are required, which undoubtedly increases the investment cost and production cost of hydrogenation technology.

Oxidative desulfurization not only meets the requirement of 10 μg/g for diesel fuel fraction, but also allows for easy and feasible desulfurization devices to be set up at the distribution outlets, which is a better way to meet the quality of the final sale of oil products.

Sulphuric Oxidative Desulfurization (SulphCo) is a new desulfurization technology jointly developed by USC and SulphCo. The chemistry of this technology is basically the same as the ASR-2 technology, with the difference that the SulphCo technology employs an ultrasonic reactor, which enhances the reaction process and makes the desulfurization more effective.
