First-aid shiatsu hemostasis

Finger pressure hemostasis refers to pressing the thumb above the bleeding blood vessel (near the heart end) after the bleeding of the aorta, so that the blood vessel is closed and the blood is interrupted. Blood is an important substance to sustain life. When trauma causes massive bleeding, the amount of bleeding exceeds a quarter of the whole body's blood volume, it will be life-threatening.

Key points of operation

1. Compression of temporal artery to stop bleeding: used for scalp and temporal artery bleeding. The method is to press the mandibular joint with your thumb or forefinger in front of your ear.

2. External maxillary artery compression hemostasis: used for bleeding of ribs and face. Collect and arrange the thumb or forefinger about half an inch in front of the mandibular angle with the medical education network, and press the arterial blood vessels on the mandible.

3. Compression of common carotid artery to stop bleeding: it is often used for head and neck bleeding and other hemostasis methods are ineffective. The method is to press the injured carotid artery backward on the fifth cervical vertebra outside the trachea and in front of the deep muscle of sternocleidomastoid muscle. However, simultaneous bilateral compression is prohibited.

4. subclavian artery compression hemostasis: used for underarm, shoulder and upper limb bleeding. The method is to put the thumb on the depression of clavicle to touch the pulse of artery, and put the other four fingers on the back of the patient's neck, and press the thumb down to the first rib.

5. Brachial artery compression hemostasis: used for hand, forearm and lower arm bleeding. The method is to compress the arterial blood vessels inside the upper arm with the thumb or four fingers in front or behind the upper arm of the patient.

Matters needing attention

Generally speaking, arteriole and venous bleeding can be stopped by pressure bandage. Hemostasis should be stopped with a tourniquet. In an emergency, we must use compression to stop bleeding first, and then use other hemostasis methods according to the bleeding situation.
