What is the pasting process?

The paste-tying technique is a technique of kite-making and an intangible cultural heritage in China. Making exquisite kites is not only for flying, but also has high ornamental value and collection value.

Cao Shi kite craft is a traditional folk kite art in Beijing, which was researched and made by Kong Xiangze according to the flying principle, pasting technique and painting essentials of kites recorded in Cao Xueqin's manuscript "Collection of Waste Art Studio", Volume II, "Records of Kites in the South and the North".

it has a wide range of subjects, and it is the crystallization of the production of great vulgarity and elegance, which combines profound traditional cultural connotation and national spirit. It is ornamental, scientific, entertaining and healthy, and it is a work of art worth collecting.

It has a long history and exquisite craftsmanship, and it highly summarizes the kite-making technology with "four arts". It has a poetic melody, shows the rich cultural characteristics of Beijing, and integrates the essence of traditional folk culture and North-South binding technology, forming a unique style.

Mr. Kong Xiangze loved kite, a traditional folk handicraft, very much in his childhood. In 1943, while studying painting and sculpture in Beiping National College of Art, his Japanese teacher, Mr. Takashi Kaoji, borrowed a manuscript of Cao Xueqin's "Collection of Waste Art Studio" from a businessman.

Among them, the second volume, Records of Kite Testing in the South and the North, systematically records the principle of kite flying, the techniques of tying and pasting, and the essentials of painting, that is, the four arts of tying, pasting, painting and flying.

Mr. Kong Xiangze copied it and preserved it. After years of careful research, it became a whole. In order to respect Cao Shi's achievements, Mr. Kong called his kite "Cao Shi Kite".
