The Origin of Poetry

Poetry is the oldest and most literary style. It originated from the labor calls and folk songs of ancient people, and was originally a general term for poetry and song. In the beginning, there was no distinction between poetry and song, and poetry was combined with music and dance, collectively known as poetry.

Primitive mankind could not understand many natural phenomena, such as wind, electricity, thunder, rain, etc., so they all attributed them to the gods. Out of reverence, the primitive human beings sang and danced and sang praises to the gods.

Expressing people's expectations - good weather, good harvests and so on. This is the origin of poetry. It originated in religion. There is another form that originated in labor.

Primitive man, while laboring, made a simple and rhythmic call to forget the temporary pain caused by labor and to invigorate his spirit and coordinate his movements. Gradually, this simple and rhythmic call developed into the sound of imitating labor itself and expressing the feelings of the laborers themselves.

Anciently, ancient information technology was not well developed, so it was very inconvenient for people to transmit information from one area to another, so they made up songs from the poems they had written, and the poems were transmitted from the mouths of the people.

Poetry originated in the social life of the ancient times, a rhythmic and emotional form of language due to labor and production, love between the sexes, and primitive religion. In the early days, poetry and song were combined with music and dance.

Poetry is the lyrics, in the actual performance is always with the music, dance and singing, and later poetry, song, music and dance are developed separately, independent of the body. The distinction between songs and poems is made according to whether they are sung to music or not, and whether they are sung to music or not is a poem.

Poetry is a linguistic art, which has a long history, and song is a musical literature. The Book of Psalms is sung in music, and strictly speaking it is a song. Because of this, the Book of Psalms has been called by scholars as a sign of the maturity of China's musical literature.

Poetry is the oldest and most literary style of literature, which originated from the ancient labor songs (later developed into folk songs) as well as ritual chants. Poetry was originally a general term for both poetry and song, and poetry, combined with music and dance, was collectively known as poetry.

Chinese poetry has a long history and a rich heritage, such as, "The Book of Songs," "Chu Ci," and "Han Lefu," as well as the works of countless poets. Poetry in Europe was initiated by poets such as Homer and Sappho in ancient Greece and Virgil and Horace in ancient Rome.

The "Lefu" produced in the Han Dynasty was also a poem that could be sung to music. Initially, it was not poetry, but a musical organization created by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Music is music, the government is the government. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty established such an official government that specialized in music.

Developing music scores and collecting lyrics. By the time of the Wei, Jin, and Six Dynasties, the poems sung by the government were simply called "Lefu", and from then on, "Lefu" changed from the name of an organ to the name of a poem, and it was sung.

The Tang Dynasty saw the formation of the "near-poetry", which is the common name for the poems and stanzas that we have learned. This kind of poetry is very concerned with rhyme. Rhythm means that there are strict rules for the use of language. Rhyme is the rhyme scheme, which refers to the syllables with the same or similar pronunciation of the main rhyming bands at the end of the stanzas.

Thus it formed a kind of musical beauty. The Tang Dynasty also saw the formation of another literary genre, the word. It was sung in harmony with music. It later flourished in the Song Dynasty and developed into a prose song in the Yuan Dynasty. It is a new form of poetry, and each tune sung to music has certain metrical requirements and has a tune name.

As times changed, new poems appeared. Free verse was not good for composing music, so the relationship between poetry and music became gradually estranged. But some excellent works still speak of musical beauty. Because although the new poems did not have a strict format, they had a rhythm.

There are rich feelings and associations, and the language is concise and refined, so it reads like singing. From this, it seems that whether it is ancient poetry, recent poetry or new poetry, all of them have a close relationship with songs. Poetry and song are just so inseparable.
