The origin of Stalingrad's name

19 18 Stalin led the famous Charizin campaign here and defeated the threatening Cossack White Guards, which is of great significance for consolidating the achievements of the October Revolution and defending the newly established Soviet regime. To commemorate Stalin's outstanding contribution, tsaritsyn was renamed Stalingrad in 1925.

Being located on the banks of the Volga River, Khrushchev denied Stalin and opposed personality cult since he took office, and was renamed Volgograd on 196 1.
