In the early days of its establishment, Qian, then vice minister of the Ministry of Railways of the National Government, laid the foundation for the school, and Zhang Bofeng, mayor of Zhengzhou City of the National Government, personally served as the first principal of the Rotary School. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Rotary schools became the place of patriotic national salvation movement in the Central Plains. Xian Xinghai, a famous musician, once gave lectures and sang patriotic songs here. Later, the school moved to Xi 'an, Hanzhong, caijiapo and other places in Shaanxi several times. Although the situation is turbulent and the conditions are difficult, the concept of cultivating talents for the motherland remains unchanged. In the history of Rotary schools, the sixth principal, Wu Naili (Wu Jian), is an outstanding educator.

His aim of running a school and his educational idea of "learning is used by ten thousand people and achievement is the best in the world" still give us a lot of enlightenment.

1952 school moved back to Zhengzhou from Shaanxi, resumed classes at the original school site, and was renamed Zhengzhou Railway Middle School. 1969, the school was renamed Zhengzhou Railway No.5 Middle School, and junior high school and senior high school were established. 1983, high school changed to vocational high school. 1September, 1999, Zheng Tie No.5 Middle School and Zheng Tie No.1 Primary School merged to form Zhengzhou Railway Foreign Language School. In 2000, vocational high schools were closed and ordinary high schools were resumed. In June, 2005, the school was handed over to Zhengzhou municipal government for management by railway, which was relatively easy.
