What do you mean by size measurement?

Size measurement is to detect whether the product size is within the tolerance range according to the pattern, so as to find the error between shape and size. In addition, the accuracy of machining reference position, machining allowance distribution and wall thickness deviation should be carefully detected. Dimension measurement is widely used in electronic components, automobile parts, mobile phone parts, screws and nuts, hardware, magnetic materials, composite components such as plastics and ceramics, magnesium, aluminum and their alloys.

Size measurement method:

The actual size of the product is often essential, but it cannot be obtained because of the complex surface of the object or the limitation of objective physical conditions. Machine vision inspection technology can deal with this kind of problem well. In the traditional automatic production, the typical size detection methods are micrometer, vernier caliper and feeler gauge. However, these measurement methods have low accuracy and slow speed, and cannot meet the needs of large-scale automatic production.

Dimension detection based on machine vision belongs to non-contact measurement, which has the advantages of high detection accuracy, high speed, low cost and simple installation. It can detect various dimensions of parts, such as length, height, width, circle, angle, line arc, concentricity, inner and outer diameters, solder joint area, number of teeth, verticality and so on.
