How to make moxa leaves into moxa sticks?
Folium Artemisiae Argyi is a soft cotton-like article made of Folium Artemisiae Argyi after repeated sun-pestle, beating, crushing and screening off impurities and dust. Artemisia argyi is the raw material for making moxa sticks and the main material for moxibustion. It is made from dried leaves of Artemisia argyi, a compositae plant.
Its color is gray, soft as velvet, nonflammable and flameless, and it is fragrant and suitable for moxibustion. According to the processing degree, it can be divided into coarse and fine. The thick ones are mostly used for warming needles or making moxa sticks, and the thin ones are mostly used for making moxa sticks. The old texture is better.
Matters needing attention in making moxa
1. To find a good raw material of mugwort leaves, mugwort leaves can be found everywhere in China, but many mugwort plants are similar to mugwort leaves, so we must choose the right one. Wormwood has a natural fragrance, but some wormwood smells bad and can't be used. If you choose the wrong one, it will be counterproductive.
2. There are also requirements for the harvest season of mugwort leaves. Many artificially planted mugwort leaves can be harvested three times a year, in spring, summer and autumn. As the best moxibustion, we must choose the first crop of wormwood and April and May of the lunar calendar. The quality of Artemisia argyi leaves harvested around the Dragon Boat Festival is the best.
3. The storage of Folium Artemisiae Argyi must be dry and ventilated in the warehouse to allow the Folium Artemisiae Argyi to age naturally. If the climate is humid, especially in the rainy season in the south, it is easy to get moldy, and Artemisia argyi leaves are useless after moldy.
