Ping Liu was dismissed from office and was found guilty and escorted back to Beijing. When the people learned the news, they sent the whole city to Dongqiao, which happened to be the 16th day of the first month. All the people burned incense and bamboo, prayed for nine days and sang for nine days. According to Hanshu, Ping Liu left his job due to illness. Thanks to the prayers of all pepper people, Ping Liu's body miraculously recovered. So he went to Beijing as a bell and assistant, and was named Jiuqing, which went down in history.
