Why is Dou E Grievance touching?
"Dou E Grievance" this tragedy is first of all a social tragedy, this tragedy is reflected in the Yuan Dynasty society, the characters in the play live in the social environment, such as lamb profit, which is officially allowed in the Yuan Dynasty society, is a kind of exploitation. In the play "Dou E Grievance", it is this kind of lamb's profit that makes Dou Tianzhang unable to repay the loan, and Dou E is used as a debtor.
Likewise, it is also such a lamb's profit that makes Cai's wife have a little financial support. Cai's wife is also in danger because of the collection of the lamb's profit debt, which was saved by Zhang Donkey's father and son, and ultimately attracted the wolf into the house, burying the root of the trouble.
More so, because the lamb profit can bring the benefit of a million dollars, which makes Zhang Donkey's father and son want to steal this benefit to satisfy the nature of the good and evil, and then there is a forced marriage to account for the wealth of this plot.
The Dou'e Injustice is a reflection of the Yuan Dynasty, and the nature of this society exacerbates the tragedy of the Dou'e Injustice. And Dou E is in such a hierarchical society, with "people only tortured to recruit" the ideological understanding of injustice and death.
Secondly, "Dou E" is a tragedy of character. Dou E goodness, integrity, courage, chastity, her character is multi-faceted, dominated by two aspects, that is, goodness and strength.
Dou E is kind, mainly in her relationship with her dead husband and mother-in-law. Dou E strong, mainly in her relationship with Zhang Donkey and Chuzhou governor Tao Legend and other people. These two aspects of character are contradictory unity, complement each other, influence each other, **** the same development.
Because Dou E firmly believes that her every action is good and reasonable, and even unquestionable according to the traditional moral standards of feudal society, it is only after suffering injustice and persecution that she finally decides that all persecution from outside is unreasonable, illegal and should be opposed, which enables her to have a sobering understanding of the brutality and poison of feudal society.
Author Guan Hanqing describes Dou E in Dou E Grievance as a bitter woman who has never done the slightest harm to anyone, but whom earthly calamities come to her one after another.
Dou E first loses her mother, leaves her father and loses her husband, and after a series of trials and tribulations, including poverty, exploitation by loan sharks, life as a child bride and the death of her husband, these trials and tribulations make her full of idle sorrows.
But Dou E's simple, kind heart doesn't understand the real reason for all these calamities. All this shows that Dou E is a peaceful, uncontroversial, tolerant and forgiving, and even a little rebellious weak woman. However, the evils and barbarism of feudal society are all silted up around Dou E. She is a woman of the world, a woman of the world, a woman of the world, a woman of the world, a woman of the world.
After experiencing a series of the darkest oppressions, Dou E is not crushed, but rather, she gradually awakens to the horrors of adversity. Dou E rises up to fight, and a series of strong curses occur to heaven and earth, the sun and the moon, and the ghosts and gods, which is a behavioral manifestation of her rebellion and struggle.
Dou E did not start out this way. Earlier, she believed that heaven and earth were selfless, which is why she "advised the present to come to the world to repair", and she also believed that the government was just, which is why she was emboldened to go into the public hall in Chuzhou. This ideal, which Dou E insisted on, she thought could be realized by relying on the protection or gifts of heaven and earth, ghosts and gods, and the government.
Later, after Dou E went through trials and tribulations and wrongful convictions, she came to the painful realization that not only are the government and the ghosts and gods not the protectors of the ideal of goodness, but they are instead the guardian gods of the dark forces, which are bullying the soft and the hard and pushing the boat along with the water. Dou E realizes that in order to rebel against the evil forces and trace the source of the evil, she will have to condemn even heaven and earth together.
Finally, the tragedy of "Dou E Grievance" is a tragedy of the heart. Although Dou E, the protagonist of "Dou E Grievance", is only a child bride of Cai's wife, she is affected by feudal ethics and morality deep in her heart, and when Zhang Donkey wants to take over Cai's family, she regards herself as a member of the family of Cai, and she will always be a member of the family. As well as Dou E's thoughtfulness and concern for Mrs. Cai when she was widowed, and her subsequent confession of guilt out of love and care for her mother-in-law, this is precisely what feudal filial piety is all about.
The root cause of all that Dou E did in "Dou E Grievance" was the concept of chastity and filial piety of women in the feudal era. Dou E's repression of such pain in the mind reaches its climax in the third chapter of "Dou E's Grievance," and she hopes to gain the warmth of the world with every word and tear.
Dou E initially believed in fate, and she thought that the concept of chastity and filial piety would bring good things to good people. Sadly, it was her belief in justice and morality that killed her.
Dou E's rebellious character continues to evolve while the good side of her character is also developed. Dou E is very compassionate to Cai's mother-in-law, who has been dependent on her for many years and will be even more lonely in the future. She is willing to take on the charge of murder for the sake of preserving her mother-in-law's life.
Even when Dou E was tied up and sent to the execution ground, she was so sad that she begged the executioner to "make things easier for others" and not to walk down the front street, lest her mother-in-law see her and cause her excessive grief.
"Dou E Grievance" in Dou E good character in the positive and evil, life and death struggle to get sublimated, which shows that Dou E heart has a strong spiritual power, it is this spiritual power to support her valor, to the death of resistance. The reason why the tragedy "Dou E Grievance" is "touching the sky and earth", the significance of this tragedy, the fundamental reason is also here.
