The Oriental Musical Instrument Museum of Shanghai Conservatory of Music has more than 400 kinds of musical instruments. It is divided into four parts: China ancient musical instruments, China modern musical instruments, China minority musical instruments and foreign minority musical instruments. The collection of musical instruments is about 400 pieces (sets). Among the ancient musical instruments, the oldest is the Jia Hu bone flute, which has a history of 8000 years. It has seven tones and is the treasure of the town hall. Modern National Musical Instruments shows the national orchestral instruments being used in contemporary China: from dozens of blowing, pulling, beating and percussion instruments, it shows the reform achievements and development track of China since 1950s. From the national musical instrument exhibition area, you can see colorful wind instruments and stringed instruments of various ethnic minorities in the motherland. The exhibition area of foreign national musical instruments shows the national and folk musical instruments of various countries and regions in the world, such as Weiner in India, shakuhachi in Japan and Gong Wei in Thailand.
