Traditional production techniques of Gaoyou salted duck eggs were selected into the fourth batch of Jiangsu Intangible Cultural Heritage List on October 29th, 20th18th, the second batch of Yangzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage List on May 28th, 20th18th, and the first batch of Gaoyou Intangible Cultural Heritage List on February 8th, 2008.
Gaoyou people not only breed Gaoyou ducks, double yellow eggs and salted duck eggs, but also create a rich duck culture, and hold the China Double Yellow Egg Duck Egg Festival every year. In 1950s, Gaoyou folk song Counting Duck Eggs was praised by Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou Enlai for its humorous and light melody and strong local flavor.
