Sima Guang was a well-known politician and historian of the Northern Song Dynasty. He was smart and studious from a young age, and he was witty and brave. When Sima Guang was a child, he often played with his friends in the backyard, where there was a rockery, and under the rockery there was a big water tank filled with water all the year round.

When Sima Guang was seven years old, he and his friends played hide-and-seek in the backyard as usual. A little friend ran to the rockery to hide, but accidentally, his feet slipped, "flop" fell into the big water tank. The vat was so deep that a child would have drowned if he had fallen in.

The other children were terrified when they saw their partner fall into the tank. Some of them cried out in fear, while others immediately ran outside to get help from adults.

There were two big mountains in front of his house, one was called Taihang Mountain and the other was called Wang Mountain. He felt that these two big mountains blocked the way out of his house and made it very inconvenient for him to go in and out every day. When Yugong was ninety years old, he called his children and grandchildren before him and talked with them about wanting to remove these two big mountains.

The children and grandchildren heard his idea and all agreed with him. The next day, the family went out with hoes. All the family, young and old, went to dig up the mountain, and the earth and stones they dug down were carried to Bohai Bay to be dumped.

The family's constant work touched many people along the way. So the emperor sent two of Qua's sons to help Yugong remove the mountain. They carried one mountain to the east of Shuo, and one mountain to the south of Yong, no longer blocking the door of Yugong's house.
