What is Ethernet?
The basic feature of Ethernet is to adopt a * * access scheme called carrier sense multiple access/collision detection CSMA/CD, that is, multiple workstations are connected to a bus, and all workstations constantly send monitoring signals to the bus;
However, in Ethernet, only one workstation can transmit on the bus at the same time, and other workstations must wait for the end of their transmission before starting their own transmission.
Extended data:
Ethernet consists of * * * transmission media, such as twisted pair or coaxial cable and multi-port hub, bridge or switch. In a star or bus configuration, hubs/switches/bridges connect computers, printers and workstations with each other through cables.
Ethernet can transmit data packets between interconnected devices at the rate of 10- 100Mbps. Ethernet can work in half-duplex and full-duplex modes.
