Fuqing

It is a county-level city belonging to Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, People's Republic of China*** and State. Located in the eastern part of Fujian, neighboring cities include Fuzhou, Putian, Changle, Minhou, Yongtai, and Pingtan across the sea. Is the first batch of national comprehensive reform pilot counties and cities, the national village construction pilot counties and cities. Fuqing, also known as Yurong, or Rong for short, is named after Yurong Mountain, which is located directly south of the county seat.

Geography

The whole territory is divided into three parts: mainland, peninsula and islands. It covers an area of 2,429.76 square kilometers, including 1,518.24 square kilometers of land and 911.52 square kilometers of sea. City Center Latitude: 25°43'21.85 "N Longitude: 119°22'38.29 "E

During the ancient geological era, the strait between Fujian and Taiwan used to be a raised and connected land bridge, and the Fuqing Peninsula was part of this land bridge. Living creatures, including ancient humans, entered Taiwan through this land bridge in ancient times, and when the land bridge sank and became a strait, Taiwan became an island. The coral and other traces of ancient life in the rock layers of the Fuqing Peninsula bear witness to the vicissitudes of life.

Now mainland scholars are arguing that the connection between Fujian and Taiwan undersea tunnels in the three programs, the northern program through the Longgao Peninsula in Fuqing, undersea tunnels or bridges connecting the Fuqing Peninsula and Haidan Island (the seat of the county of Pingtan, for China's fifth-largest island), and then by the Haidan Island construction of undersea tunnels to 68 nautical miles away from Taiwan's Hsinchu.

Climate

Fuqing is located in the subtropics and is greatly influenced by the ocean, with a maritime subtropical monsoon climate. The average annual temperature is 18.8 degrees Celsius, the average annual frost-free period is 365 days, and the average annual rainfall is 1525 millimeters. Summer winds and typhoons are the main sources of precipitation, and the rainfall is heavy but concentrated in summer, which is known as the nine droughts in ten years. The Dongzhang Reservoir, built after liberation, was positive in easing the drought.

Population

The population of 1.1 million is dominated by Han Chinese, with 14 ethnic minorities including She, Jing, Yao, Zhuang and Tibetan.

Because of Fuqing's long history of emigration to overseas countries, the diaspora population is large and spread all over the world. It is estimated that the overseas population of Fuqing nationality is almost equal to the current local population. [source request]

History

Fuqing was originally part of Changle County. In the second year of the Tang Shengli, Wan'an County was analyzed and established from Changle County. 742, the name was changed to Futang County. In the second year of Liang Kaiping of the Five Dynasties, Wang was changed to Yongchang County. At the beginning of Tang Tongguang, the name of Futang County was restored. In the fourth year of Changxing, Wang was renamed Fuqing County. Song is still Fuqing County, belongs to Fuzhou. Yuan said Fuqing state. Ming Hongwu four years, back to the county. Qing dynasty Fuqing county town circumference of more than six miles, the editorial household has one hundred and twenty-three miles. [6]. 1912 (the first year of the Republic of China), from Fuqing analyzed Haidan Island and other places to set Pingtan County.

In December 1990, the State Council approved the withdrawal of the county to establish a city. Fuqing City is a famous overseas Chinese hometown, overseas Chinese travel history of more than 500 years.

Wave of immigrants

Fujian is located in the southeast coast, surrounded by mountains on three sides, by the Wuyi mountain range, blocked by the dangerous peaks and steep mountains, and for a long time there is some kind of "isolation" state; and the east of the sea, across the sea from Taiwan, the net opens up to the rest of the world.

History of Fujian people in addition to the aboriginal people of Fujian and Yue people, mainly to the eight surnames into the Fujian clothes south as represented by the various dynasties in the provinces to escape from the military disaster of the refugees, eight mountains, one water, one field of the living environment caused as early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there are a large number of people in Fuqing, or with Zheng He to the West China Sea, or with the national name of the master of the development of Taiwan, or down to the South China Sea. 1949, the old generation of immigrants from Fuqing is mainly distributed in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.

The Exodus

Modern Fuqing is known for its large number of stowaways. See Illegal immigrants selling piggies. While the successful members of the older generation of immigrants have returned home as overseas Chinese, becoming sponsors of friends and relatives and donors of roads and schools, the younger generation of Fuqing people have become the new generation of immigrants through various legal and illegal means, most of them being labeled as stowaways because of their disregard for passports and the law.

The cause of the exodus is a matter of opinion. Those who are unsympathetic attribute it to Fuqing people's lack of awareness of the law and their willingness to do whatever it takes for monetary purposes, emphasizing the illegal aspects of their actions. Sympathizers believe that things happen for a reason. Fuqing is polarized in terms of natural conditions. One pole is eight mountains, one water, one field of the poor agricultural conditions to eat, one pole is the coastal near the ocean to go out of the open environment. From the Ming Dynasty, closed to the sea ban, (see the order to move the border), and then to the front line of the civil war in the country **** smoke rises. Ancient sea bans and modern passports are functionally identical in terms of restricting the free movement of people.

Because of the general ignorance of people from other places, the misunderstanding of Fuqing people is very deep, nowadays Fuqing people still have the tradition of going abroad to open up the country, but all through normal legal ways, rather than the traditional natural way. But unlike other cities, it is not about learning and improving oneself, but about getting status and even selling labor to go abroad.

In the early 90's it was concentrated in Japan, after 2000 it was European countries, especially the UK, and some other remote countries and regions where the number of people is increasing. These include supermarkets and restaurants in Argentina and other countries in South America, clothing in remote countries such as Ecuador, trade in Russia, and even more remote countries in Africa, such as Cameroon, Algeria and other backward countries. Whether it is early, or recent, Fuqing people are in a special way "hard work and struggle", hoping to use that way in the "realization of their own value" at the same time, but also for the local economy to make "contributions".

Resisting the Japanese

The Ming Dynasty imposed a sea ban (see the order to relocate the border for details), making it impossible for normal maritime trade to continue. Some merchants traveled to Japan under the circumstance that the passage was for commerce and the prohibition was for invasion. At that time, Japan's Muromachi Shogunate has existed in name only, unable to control the national political situation, the size of the war caused by a large number of Japanese people from all walks of life bankruptcy and unemployment, and then more flow for the bandits. Together, the two forces led to the development of the early Japanese lower-class samurai-based true Japanese into a mixture of Chinese pirates, false Japanese and true Japanese. These people roamed the southeastern coast and were called Japanese pirates. The majority of the true Japanese were Japanese employed by Wang Zhi's group in a subordinate, auxiliary position.

With the increasing frequency of Japanese activities during the Jiajing period, Fuqing was seriously affected by the Japanese invasion and became one of the two lairs of the Japanese in Fujian. In 1562 A.D., Qi Jiguang of Zhejiang Province led the Qi family army into Fujian to help eliminate them. After the Battle of Hengyu, the Great Victory of Niutian, the Battle of Lindun, and the Battle of Fuqing, the Japanese invaders in Fuqing were cleared away. So much so, that the Japanese invaders heard Qi color change: "Qi tiger soldiers also to this yeah!" "We do not dare to violate Zhejiang, why come 10,000 miles away to kill me also!"

Fuqing people suffered from the Japanese for many years, and actively support the Qi family army to combat the Japanese military operations, making sesame biscuits, given to the Qi family army as military food. After the Japanese invasion subsided, in order to commemorate the achievements of Qi Jiguang who led the Qi family army to suppress the Japanese invasion, the descendants called it light cake, which is still one of the specialties of Fuqing.

Language

The native Fuqing dialect of Fuzhou, a language of eastern Fujian, is spoken in most of Fuqing City and Pingtan County. Meanwhile, residents of southern Fuqing mainly use Putian. Both belong to the Sino-Tibetan language family of Chinese Min.

The Fuqing dialect has several phonetic differences from the downtown Fuzhou accent, and belongs to the Eastern Min language. It still retains many words from the ancient Chinese language. For example: 厝 (home), 鼎 (pot), 汝 (you), 厝里 (wife), 雞母 (hen). The phonetic part is more complicated than the four tones of modern Chinese. In the early days, there were eight tones, called the eight tones, and today seven tones are retained.

The pronunciation of Fuqing dialect is partly the same as the Japanese Song sound, which was transmitted to Japan via Ryukyu in Taiwan during the Song Dynasty. For example, the pronunciation of the word "郡" is exactly the same as that of "県", the Japanese word for "prefecture". On the contrary, it is quite different from the pronunciation of modern Chinese.

Fuqing dialect has retained more features of the ancient Chinese language, and can be said to be a living fossil of the ancient Chinese language. It is still an important language for communication between fellow villagers in overseas places where there are many immigrants from Fuqing, such as Chinatown or China Street. But in recent years, under the government's strict policy of banning dialects, there is a risk of going into the history of the younger generation of people who speak Fuqing dialect is decreasing, and most of the older people can only speak but not write or use close-sounding words instead.

The influence of Fuqing dialect is not only limited to Fuqing, but also overseas, such as the United Kingdom, Japan, South Africa, Argentina, the United States, basically wherever there is a Chinatown, you can hear Fuqing dialect.

Customs

Fuqing has a unique custom of lighting lanterns on the Ruiyun Pagoda during the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is the first year of the year. Legend has it that it began in the fourth year of the Ming Dynasty (1624), the 1984 Tower Lights viewers like a tide, scattered overseas travelers have returned to participate.

Economy

Much of Fuqing's economy depends on overseas Chinese. There is China's first overseas Chinese-funded economic development zone: Rongqiao Economic Development Zone, as well as China's first overseas Chinese-funded industrial zone: Yuanhong Investment Zone, and China's first overseas Chinese-funded small and medium-sized enterprise concentration zone - Hongkuan Industrial Zone. Fuqing also has a world-class harbor with great potential: Jiangyin Harbor. Jiangyin Port is surrounded by the sea on three sides, never freezes all year round, has excellent shelter from the wind, and has excellent natural conditions. In the future, it will be built into an international operation center, an intercontinental trade center and a seaside heavy industry base. Among the famous enterprises in Fuqing, the most famous one is Fuyao Glass, which has emerged in recent years; in addition, AOC, which has already become the world's largest display factory, has its production plant in Fuqing, and is the largest enterprise in Fuqing in terms of production value.

Transportation

As of 2004, Fuqing has 88 highways with a total length of 823.69 kilometers and more than 69,000 motor vehicles of all kinds. 45.79 kilometers of National Highway 324, 42.9 kilometers of Fuxia Expressway, and 51 kilometers of Zhenda Line Provincial Highway run through Fuqing, making it the city's major transportation hub, and the Fuxia Railway is also under construction. The Fuxia Railway is also under construction. There is a military airport in the city. The city is about 45 kilometers from Fuzhou Changle International Airport and 34 kilometers in a straight line. It is 125 nautical miles from Keelung Harbor in Taiwan.

Fuqing Longgao Peninsula around the Jiangyin, Niutouwei, Wan'an, Hailiang, Kemen, South Qingyu, Dabian Island, with more than 200 deep-water harbors and 60,000 square kilometers of industrial land can be built in succession 100,000 to 300,000 tons of all-weather, and is only 13-24 nautical miles away from the main route of the International Container Globe, which is a "rare" port resource in Fujian Province and even in the country. "port resources in Fujian Province and even in the whole country.

Ecology

Fuqing Bay Wetland is included in the Wetlands of Central China, a list of nationally important wetlands. See Wetlands of China

Fuqing Bay Wetland is an important wintering place and migratory resting place for waterfowls, and plays an important role in researching and mastering the relationship between the wetland and various birds and fowls. The scope includes cormorant island in Sanshan town, Haikou farm, Longjiang estuary, Dongge Overseas Chinese farm, Dongbi island, Bashi island and other beach wetlands.

At present, the national-level protected animal Chinese Autumn Sand Duck, an internationally endangered species, the world's most endangered bird and the second-class protected bird of the state, the Black-faced Spoonbill, the endangered species of Black-billed Gull, as well as a large number of other rare birds such as Mottled-billed Ducks, Mallard Ducks, Needle-tailed Ducks, Red-billed Gulls, and the Black Cascade Ice Herons have been observed, which makes it the wintering paradise for the migratory birds. According to statistics, the largest flock of birds reaches more than 20,000 birds.

In the winter of 2004, bird-watching enthusiasts found about 60 black-faced spoonbills, a globally endangered species, staying in the wetlands of Fuqing Bay, Fujian Province, to overwinter for five months. Black-faced spoonbills are quiet and fear outside harassment. The fact that such birds can choose the Fuqing Bay wetland for overwintering shows that the wetland ecosystem is still well-protected, with a strong environmental regulation function and huge resource potential.

Environment

In recent years, Fuqing City has unilaterally emphasized the speed of economic development, coupled with the lack of regulation, has caused considerable pressure on the environment. One of the most obvious examples is the pollution of the Long River, which is the main river in the city. The upper reaches of the Longjiang River are still considered to be clear and beautiful, but after passing through the Hongkuan Industrial Zone, it turns black and stinks. In the industrial zone, paper mills, dyeing factories and so on, either explicitly or implicitly in the Dragon River emissions, the Dragon River downstream through the city until the mouth of the ecological environment of the rapid deterioration of the sea. And on the Fuqing Bay within the mariculture poses a major threat. Improvement of environmental security, change the environmental protection idea has come to an imminent degree.

At present, because in the city of Longjiang buried in the bottom of a separate pipeline for sewage, so the city of Longjiang water quality has been improved to a certain extent, but the cure is not the root cause of the problem, sewage pipeline after the area and the mouth of the pollution still exists.

Military airport

In March 1955, the Central Military Commission had built a military airport in Longtian, called Project 5795, which was completed in June of that year [8]. Later this airport was deserted due to the decrease of military confrontation value. 1996 Taiwan Strait Crisis, a large number of military personnel and equipment were re-stationed at this airport [source request].
