The Construction Background of China Canal Culture Museum in Liaocheng
In order to inherit and carry forward the excellent history and culture of the Canal, Liaocheng proposed to build the Canal Museum during the Eighth Five-Year Plan, which was included in the Eighth Five-Year Plan, and then included in the Ninth Five-Year Plan and the Tenth Five-Year Plan and the construction plan of a famous cultural city.
After more than ten years' efforts, the Canal Museum started construction in 2002 and completed the main construction in 2004. The main building of the museum is unique and magnificent. From a distance, it looks like a huge water tanker, braving the wind and waves in the canal and moving forward with its head held high.
In the second half of 2004, preparations for the exhibition of the Canal Museum began.
In August, 2008, a leading group for exhibition planning of China Canal Culture Museum was established to be responsible for the exhibition of the Canal Culture Museum.
On May 1 2009, Liaocheng China Canal Culture Museum held a grand opening ceremony, which was officially opened to the public free of charge.
