What are the main methods of soilless culture in China?

In the development of soilless culture in China, the following methods are mainly adopted: nutrient solution membrane technology (NFT), deep flow technology (DFT), floating capillary hydroponics (FCH), rock wool cultivation, bag cultivation, pond cultivation, Lu SC soilless culture and organic ecological soilless culture technology. At present, organic ecological soilless culture technology and floating plate capillary hydroponics technology are widely used in China.

Floating-plate capillary hydroponics technology was jointly developed by Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Nanjing Agricultural University. On the basis of deep flow method, a foamed plastic board with a thickness of 2 cm and a width of 12 cm was added. Roots can grow up and down on the foam floating board, which is convenient for absorbing nutrients in water and oxygen in the air.

Organic ecotype soilless culture technology was developed by Institute of Vegetables and Flowers, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It is a trough planting method. Organic fertilizer is mainly used in the production process, and all fertilizers are applied in solid form. Only clean water is used to replace the traditional soilless culture nutrient solution during irrigation, which has low energy consumption and no pollution to the environment. Therefore, it is called organic ecotype soilless culture. This method has low production cost, and the product quality meets the requirements of green food, which is welcomed by the majority of producers.
