Traditional government procedures in China

Seating arrangements for business occasions:

Seats in business occasions are arranged in accordance with international practice, and the basic principles are: high on the right and low on the left, high in front and low after, and higher in the middle than on both sides. If you consider door to door, you should also follow the principle of being far high and near low. It means that the position far from the door is the upper seat. Business occasions we often meet are: business talks, business negotiations, business banquets, etc.

Business negotiations are mostly bilateral negotiations. In bilateral negotiations, guests and hosts sit on either side of a long table or an oval table. If it is placed horizontally, the side facing the main entrance is the top, which should belong to the guests. The side facing down from the main entrance belongs to the main party; If it is placed vertically (along the door), it should be based on the direction of entering the door, with the right side facing up and belonging to the guest side; Left side down, belonging to the main party. The chief negotiator should sit in the middle of his side. Other personnel sit from near to far according to the principle of high right and low left. International practice is contrary to the seating of government etiquette meetings. If both parties bring their own translators, they should sit on the right of the main speaker.

Business banquets can be divided into Chinese banquets and western banquets.

The seating arrangement of Chinese banquets needs our attention: first, the person sitting in the center of the main entrance of the room is the first, and the person sitting in the center of the main entrance of the room is generally the host, which is called the main seat; Opposite the door is the second master. The position on the right of the host is the first guest position, the second guest position on the left, the third guest position on the right of the second host and the fourth guest position on the left. There is also a more common one. The position on the right of the host is the first guest position, the third guest position on the left, the second guest position on the right and the fourth guest position on the left. This mainly emphasizes one-on-one care.

In many cities in China, another seating arrangement is very common, that is, the person sitting in the center of the main entrance of the room is the master, and the opposite is the second master. The position on the right of the host is the first guest position, the position on the left is the second guest position, and so on.

Sometimes, there is no need for other guests and hosts to cross arrangements. A guest sits on the host's right and an escort sits on the host's left. That is, subject, guest and right, so it is clear at a glance and easy to introduce and understand.

Western-style banquets mostly use rectangular dining tables, and the seating arrangement is in accordance with international practice: the host shall prevail, with the right high and the left low, and the near high and far low. In a formal western-style banquet, it is generally required that the number of men and women is equal and men and women sit alternately. Therefore, as long as you accept the host's invitation, you must always keep your promise. If you really can't keep the appointment, you should try to inform your host in advance. Western banquets often use the following two methods to arrange seats, in which male and female hosts can also be the first and second hosts.

The seating arrangement of the rostrum in government etiquette is somewhat different from that in business occasions. Generally speaking, according to the tradition of our country, the seats in the first row are expensive in the middle, and the two sides are arranged in the order of high left and low right, that is, the second leader sits on the left of the top leader (if viewed from the audience, it is the right), the third leader sits on the right of the top leader, and so on. If the number of people is just in pairs, the top leader is on the left side of the middle, the second leader is on the right side of the middle, and so on.

But at present, the right is higher than the left, so when arranging foreign-related meetings, it can be arranged in accordance with international practice. A name tag should be placed in front of the table of each seat, which is convenient for the audience and journalists to identify and familiarize themselves with the relevant personnel. The seats on the rostrum should not be too crowded, and no flowers should be placed on the table. It is convenient for members of the presidium to open documents, take notes and put tea, glasses and pen and ink.

After many meetings, participants need to take a group photo as a souvenir. In this way, another problem is encountered, which is the ranking of group photos. There are many problems to be considered in the ranking of group photos, such as the convenience of shooting, the size of the venue, the number of people, the height, foreign guests and other factors. When taking a group photo, under normal circumstances, you can stand; You can also arrange for people in the front row to sit, and people in the back row to step and stand. Government affairs meetings usually don't arrange for the participants to squat for a group photo. In addition, the ranking of domestic and foreign group photos is different. Domestic group photo ranking, ranking principle: the front row is higher than the back row, the middle is higher than the sides, and the right is higher than the left. Also note that the host staff is on the right and the guest staff is on the left. The ranking principle of international practice is that the host is in the middle, the guest of honor is on the right of the host, and the guests on both sides line up in turn.
