Weaving of dustpan

In rural areas, dustpan is a common dustpan. The millet and white rice in Huang Chengcheng are all returned to the warehouse, and we have to rely on them to remove chaff and complete the last process. Although today's wind-grain machine and rice mill have their own functions, in rural areas, dustpan is still an essential agricultural product for every household.

The dustpan is shaped like a big gong and has a simple structure. However, weaving dustpan involves several processes and is a traditional manual process. From this, we can see the skills of skilled craftsmen.

First, choose bamboo. Bamboo varieties should be good, neither too old nor too tender. Old, difficult to operate, easy to break; Tender and easy to be eaten by insects. There is a problem of mastering the temperature.

Then there is weaving dustpan row (commonly known as dustpan bottom), just like weaving mattress. In order to save materials, a square bamboo raft is woven first, and then gradually expanded into a regular octagonal bamboo raft with a diameter slightly larger than that of the dustpan. After weaving the raft, draw a circle with a ruler and cut the raft into a circle with a sharp knife.

Clamping row is the most critical link in the whole process. Whether the dustpan is durable or not depends mainly on this. The clamping row must be a hoop. The hoop should be made of good bamboo, the circumference is a little more than three times the diameter of the dustpan, the width is 1.5 cm to 2 cm, and the thickness is 0.5 cm to 0.7 cm. Two rings, an inner ring and an outer ring. When clamping the row, first put the inner hoop flat on the round row; Then remove the outer hoop and pull up the circular row along the periphery of the inner hoop with one end; Then clamp the whole part block with a clamp; Then drill a hole near the inner ring and tie the wire. Although the operation is not too complicated, it is not easy to operate overnight.

The last step is to tie the vines. In the past, rattan was used as raw material, so it was called rattan binding (now the raw material is changed to plastic sheet). Before that, we need to drill a hole, about 3 cm in diameter, which has filled the whole iron ring. Skillful craftsmen relax their arms when tying vines, just like girls flying needles and walking on a line. It's beautiful.

We hope that the dustpan will end its mission as soon as possible and enter the museum, and we also hope that traditional handicrafts will be inherited and innovated.
