During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Zhongjing, a Nie native of Nanyang County (now Gedong Town, dengzhou city City, Henan Province), devoted himself to studying ancient medical books and collecting effective prescriptions, and wrote Treatise on Febrile Diseases, which was regarded as a classic by doctors in past dynasties and made outstanding contributions to the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
