Handan College is located in the National Historical and Cultural City, National Excellent Tourism City, Taijiquan Mecca, the capital of idioms and allusions of Handan City, Hebei Province, is a good prospect of development of the public full-time general undergraduate colleges and universities. The history of the school began in 1905 with the establishment of Handan County Primary Teacher Training College, which was upgraded to Handan Teacher Training College in 1982, and then upgraded to an undergraduate college and named Handan College in 2004, and passed the Qualified Assessment of Undergraduate Teaching Level of the Ministry of Education and Audit and Evaluation in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Since 2008, the school has adhered to the service-oriented positioning of "based on Handan, serving the society, bearing the culture and educating teachers, and integrating and guiding the industry", comprehensively implemented the basic strategy of "creating a harmonious environment, grasping the connotation of the construction, focusing on synergistic innovation, and taking the road of characteristics", and firmly established the status of the center of talent cultivation to the construction of the theme of the year to promote the rapid development of the school's career.

The special education of Hebei Province has ushered in a new development of teacher education; the information technology major has been awarded the national featured specialty, the chemical engineering major has been awarded the provincial key laboratory, and the engineering majors have been strengthened in the process of serving the localities; the school has been approved as the provincial key development discipline of specialized history, and has been successfully approved as the only postdoctoral innovation and practice base and postdoctoral scientific research station of social sciences in Hebei Province, relying on the Research Center of Taihang Mountain Instruments. In 2010, the university set up the first Taiji Culture College in China, approved the provincial key development discipline of "Wushu and traditional national sports", and approved 13 national, provincial and municipal Taijiquan training bases for cultivation, training and dissemination and promotion, and cooperated with Russia, Chile, China and the United States. The university has implemented the "100 doctoral introduction project" and the "100 doctoral training project".Since 2018, 35 young teachers have been selected and sent to study for doctoral degrees in domestic and foreign universities, and 14 teachers have gone to overseas universities for study visits and training.
