New Lenovo - A Dream Combination

In 1981, IBM envisioned a new dimension - the personal dimension - of computing power in order to extend the potential and productivity of information technology from the mainframe to people's homes and work. on August 12, 1981, IBM formally released the first PC in its history, and from then on, mankind entered the personal computer era. In 1992, a legendary and resounding brand-ThinkPad was born! For more than 20 years, IBM's Personal Computing Division has evolved and innovated in the field of personal computing.

In 1984, in the east of the world, Liu Chuanzhi led a group of 10 Chinese computer scientists who had the foresight to realize that the PC was bound to change people's work and life. With a start-up capital of 200,000 yuan ($25,000) and a strong determination to turn their research and development results into successful products, the 11 researchers started their business in a rented office in Beijing, naming the young company "Lenovo" (legend). In the course of the company's development, Lenovo innovated and realized many major technological breakthroughs, including the successful development of the Lenovo Han Card, which can translate an English operating system into Chinese, the development of personal computers that can be used to access the Internet with a single click, and the launch of a completely innovative associated application technology in 2003, which established Lenovo's position as an important player in the 3C era. With these technologically advanced PC products, Lenovo has risen to the top of China's IT industry, and by 2006 Lenovo had already occupied the No. 1 market share position in China for ten consecutive years.

In 1994, Lenovo was successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; four years later, Lenovo produced its one millionth PC under its own brand name; and in 2003, Lenovo changed its English logo from Legend to Lenovo. In 2003, Lenovo changed its logo from "Legend" to "Lenovo", with "Le" taken from the original logo "Legend" to represent its tradition, and the newly added "novo" taken from the Latin word "new". In 2004, Lenovo officially changed its name from "Legend" to "Lenovo".

Lenovo completed its acquisition of IBM's PC division in May 2005, creating the dream combination of the new Lenovo.
