What does the Homeric era mean

The Homeric period is named after the author of the Homeric epics, the end of the clan society.

The Homeric period was the formative period of Greek mythology and the budding period of plastic arts. The earliest works of plastic art in the Homeric period are geometric style vases, simple and simple shape, different sizes, mostly used for worship and burial. Even the carvings were mostly geometric, with no details carved. Therefore, this period is also known as the "geometric style period".

The Dorians, who invaded the Greek Peninsula around the twelfth century B.C., belonged to the same ethnic group as the Mycenaeans, but they lived in the mountainous inland areas of the north, and their social development was relatively backward, and they were still in the stage of military democracy at the end of the primitive society. According to Greek mythological legend, the southward movement of the Dorians was accompanied by the descendants of the famous hero Herakles, and the pretext of invasion was to help them to reclaim the Peloponnesian throne which belonged to Hershey, which more or less reflected that the invasion of the Dorians was combined with the internal strife of the Mycenaean states. The Dorians are said to have raised an army several times, and finally succeeded in their invasion 60 years after the battle of Troyes.

Archaeological excavations show that the destruction of Troyes occurred around 1200 B.C., while the destruction of the Mycenaean cities occurred after 1150 B.C., which is consistent with the ancient legends. Since the Dorians, who were in the stage of military democracy, did not establish their own state after destroying the Mycenaean countries, the tradition of Greek civilization was cut off for two or three hundred years. From 1100 to 800 B.C., all parts of Greece returned to the primitive era, which is a relatively backward dark ages, reflecting the historical situation of the literature is mainly Homer's epic, and therefore also known as the "Homeric era".
