"Sakura" (Japanese: さくらさくら) is a traditional Japanese folk song describing the beautiful scenery in spring, which was created at the end of Edo for children to learn Japanese zither. Spring is the season when cherry blossoms bloom. This tune is a Japanese minor, with only five sounds of do, mi, fa, la and si. Cherry Blossom is often adapted into instrumental music in the form of duet, chorus, solo and ensemble.
This song is widely known in China. At present, there is a song "Cherry Blossom" in the music textbooks of primary schools in Chinese mainland. This song is also the opening song of various language radio programs of Japan Radio International and the starting song of Komatsu Station of JR Yamanote Line and Xiaojinjing Station of JR Central Line Express.
