What is Guizhou Miao Opera?

Miao opera is a unique opera of Miao nationality and one of the favorite opera art forms of Miao people.

Miao drama has no facial makeup, traditional drama wears Miao costumes, and modern drama is fashionable.

The musical vocals of Miao opera are mostly high-pitched and flat-pitched, and the vocals of wizards are selected. Miao opera music is developed from Miao songs and Miao suona qupai. At first, the band accompaniment of Miao opera was suona and Muye, and later, percussion instruments such as Niu Jiaoqin and Zhubang were added.

Nuo opera is a primitive religious drama evolved from ancient Nuo sacrifice activities. Nuo wish can be divided into Nuo opera (or Nuo dance) and Nuo art. Nuo opera has a fixed story and dialogue between characters; Nuo skill is to spray water to draw characters, and the foot passes through the red-hot head (mouth), but it is safe to see smoke on the soles of the feet. Nuo opera is rich in vocals, which are commonly used, such as grabbing board, flat board, rocking board, Jiangnv board, old board, embroidered board, board, pioneer board, land board, counting board, floor, running board, flower viewing board, living board, board and practicing board. There are four tones: appearance tone, praise tone, four-tone tone, flat tone, half-flower tone, pioneer tone, sad tone and Guizhou tone; There are more than 30 different plate cavities, such as high cavity and flat cavity.

The main accompaniment instruments of Nuo Opera are drums, gongs and cymbals. Later, instruments such as guzheng, dulcimer, bamboo suona, konoha, Niu Jiaoqin, erhu, sanxian and paper Hu were added. Costume props are determined according to the role and plot needs, including masked performances and masquerade performances without masks. Generally, the performance lasts for two days and one night, and there are also several days and nights. The length of time is determined according to the script and the requirements of the audience.
