According to domestic official records, in 1986, Foshan Shanhu United Industrial Company developed a vertical fan (trade name "building fan" and "entertainment fan", now commonly known as "tower fan"), which uses radial wind wheel to supply air, and synchronous motor drives the fan to twist left and right to change the direction of air supply. This kind of fan is novel in appearance and soft in wind power, but it is small in air volume and consumes a lot of electricity (the use value is about 0.5 cubic meter/watt-minute, which is only 1/2 of the desktop fan), so it is suitable for personal use in the office. In the same year, Foshan Shanhu United Industrial Co., Ltd. used Hong Kong technology and computer components to produce electronic program-controlled vertical fans, and used electronic program controllers to realize the functions of simulating natural wind, running at various start-stop intervals, and stopping at regular intervals.
