This "Wuji" requires the practitioner of Taijiquan to have an immense mind without any distractions, and to be aware of the vastness of the universe, which is serene and silent. This is the similarity between Taijiquan and Taoism's "Shou Yi" and "Pure Vegetarianism" and Buddhism's "Meditation" and "Emptiness", that is to say, Taijiquan is the same as Taoism's "Shou Yi" and "Pure Vegetarianism". This is also the source of Taijiquan's function of nourishing the mind and cultivating the sex. The concept of "Wuji and Taiji" is the fundamental concept of taijiquan, and it is the essence of taijiquan that can be grasped by grasping this point.

It means that each of the five elements belongs to yin and yang, especially the water belongs to yin, fire belongs to yang, and water is soft and fire is rigid. Thus, the rigidity and flexibility of taijiquan and the Taoist internal alchemy of the heart and kidney is completely compatible. Therefore, Taijiquan is used in health care to get rid of diseases and prolong life, and used in martial arts to achieve victory over the enemy by mutual use of rigidity and flexibility.
