All the demons in the cave were killed or burned to death, and the Yellow Lion Spirit found the Nine Spirits hoping that he would help him avenge his death.

The Nine Spirits took six lion spirits and the Yellow Lion Spirit to seek revenge on the Monkey King. All four members of the Tang Monk and his disciples and the king's father and son were captured by the Nine Spirit Saints, and the Monkey King was beaten up by the little demons with sticks.

The Monkey King escaped and found the master of the Nine Spirit Sacred Spirit, Taiyi Savior of Bitterness, who helped the Monkey King to take away the Nine Spirit Sacred Spirit. The Yellow Lion Spirit and six other lion spirits were killed by the Monkey King, making them the only demon spirits in Journey to the West who did not eat people but were eaten by them.

About a year after the Little Leiyin Temple incident, the Nine Spirit Saints came down to Rulai's doorstep, the "Heavenly Dharma".
