Appreciation and Analysis of Ancient Songs of Eight Changes

This poem expresses the nostalgic feeling of a traveler.

The two lines of "the north wind arrives in the early fall, blowing me to Zhanghuatai", pointing out the time and place respectively, write about the north wind coming, the autumn feeling of sullenness, stranded in Chu, the poet climbed to the stage to look at his hometown at dusk, and appreciated the coldness in the north wind towards the evening. The first line of the poem is "The north wind arrives in early fall", which leads the whole piece. The second line mentions "Zhanghua Terrace" in Chu, indicating that the poet was staying in Chu at that time.

Late summer and early fall, the daily temperature is still very hot, and the change of seasons is not very clear. Only at the end of the day, the summer heat is slightly receding, and the evening breeze reveals the feeling of autumn. All the hometown travelers, for the change of the season is very sensitive, especially winter and spring and summer and autumn, during the change of the wind, although slight, but especially people care about the feelings, such as the Tang Du Shenyan "and Jinling Lu Chancellor early spring tour of the hope" cloud: "unique eunuchs travelers, partial shock of the new weather." The poet starts with the autumn wind on the high platform and sings about it, with the implicit sigh of "Returning to the second place". These two lines create a mood of a traveler's sadness in autumn, which covers the whole piece of the poem.

In the two lines of "The floating clouds are full of twilight color, seeming to come from ?' Gansu", the poet depicts the twilight clouds in the high sky in the evening with a strong tone of ink, saying that they seem to be blown from the mountain of ?' Gansu in the west pole, so as to show the vastness of a thousand miles of the Chu sky and the pale color of the closed sky, and to set off the image of the loneliness and lonesomeness of a person on a high platform.

The two lines of "The Mulberry is ringing in the forest, and the weft is ringing on the empty steps" describe the sound of autumn in detail: the forest on the ground is swaying and falling, and the mulberry is ringing because of the wind; the empty steps in front of the platform are silent, and the cockerel is singing sadly. Here, the sound of autumn objects is used to contrast the lonesomeness of the surrounding environment. In the face of this scene, the poet's emotions are mixed and he is sad. This section of the narrative scene from the first line "the north wind in early autumn to", from the high altitude floating clouds to write to the ground forest, from the distant mountain twilight to write to the empty steps and weft, in order to see the wind of the animals, things of touching. The picture is shrouded in a bleak and valiant atmosphere of autumn.

The last section of the poem is a narrative of the scenery, which is introduced by the phrase "flying in the wind". This sentence is written to float with the wind, not only the first sentence of "the north wind to the early fall" in terms of the wind of the animal, but also with the next sentence of "pathos traveler's mind" off and on, the text naturally into a couple. The two sentences to fly the canopy of the wind, a metaphor for the traveler's thousands of miles of wandering, touching the scene, pathos and sadness. Out of this one, but also the fugue also than, chapter law turn down without trace. Finally, "the hometown is not visible, long look back" as a conclusion. This poet looks at his hometown, hoping to return from here. However, the sky is long and the land is vast, and the hometown is not visible, so I can't help but feel sad and frustrated. The concluding two lines reflect the previous text of the platform to look into the distance, mentioning the purpose of the article. The whole article is a coherent, integrated whole.

This poem has its own originality in writing scenery, mainly not in the skill of description, but in the scenery itself, which shows a new change. By and large, before Jian'an, the writing of scenery in poems was mainly used as a comparison and a smaller proportion of the poem. According to Wu Qiao's "Answer to the Poems Asked by Wan Ji_," "Nineteen poems are eight out of ten about love, two out of ten about landscape; Jian'an's poems, landscape has been more and more, more and more day by day." And this poem date can not be confirmed, but at least with the "nineteen ancient poems" is comparable to be sure.

On the one hand, the poet in the natural scenery is not purely objective to describe the form, write the sound and color, which does carry some kind of metaphor. For example, the floating clouds, twilight, is to take the scene into the poem, but once depicted, it will become a thing with specific imagery. The twilight color in autumn is a symbol of sadness, and the floating cloud is a symbol of the wanderer, both of which are often associated with each other in ancient poems. In this way, the narrative scene of this poem still shows traces of the traditional use of scenery as a metaphor since the Classic of Poetry (this situation is still common in poems after the Wei and Jin dynasties).

But another aspect that is more noteworthy is that the landscape in this poem is no longer written with one or two strokes for interspersing and coloring, but occupies a significant space and position in the poem, a fact that implies that the depiction of natural scenery has already been detached from the accompaniment of lyrical narration and the medium of pure simile, and has tended to appear as an object of description with an independent aesthetic significance. Although it still bears traces of the traditional poetic narrative style, it has new qualities that are different from those of the "Classic of Poetry" and even the "Nineteen Ancient Poems". In other words, the tendency to focus on landscape writing, which became more generalized after Jian'an, has been expressed here, which can be said to be an attempt with creativity.
