Can I play the pipa with my nails?
Pipa is a traditional plucked instrument in China. When playing the pipa, you should not only pay attention to not using your own nails, but also pay attention to the following matters:
Pay attention to your body posture when playing the pipa. Sit up straight, your shoulders should be steady, your feet should be forward, and the distance between your knees should be about half to one foot. Pipa should stand upright on the two strings in the middle or left. The pipa face plate is outward, and the back face is inward (or the pipa face plate forms a 45-degree angle with the front face of the human body, and the piano body is slightly inclined to the left and front).
When playing pipa, you should pay attention to the speed of tapping the strings with your fingers to reduce the number of impacts between nails and strings. Every time you play it, you should reduce it to the point where your nails will leave the strings before the second impact. The contact surface should be small, the speed should be explosive, and you can't stay on the string. Finger strength should be uniform and elastic.
When beginners learn to play the pipa, they should also pay attention to developing good habits and correct playing methods. We should not pursue the hand shape superficially and mechanically, but find the best point and face of nail touching the string, as well as the angle and direction of entering the string, and guide playing with the right method.
