What kinds of death metals are there?

Traditional death [typical death]

(early sensuality, obscenity, bolt throwing, cancer)

This is actually not a branch or genre. The styles of the bands mentioned are very different. But they are all old bands with persistent nostalgia. The standard lineup of lead singer/rhythm guitar, bass, drum and roaring lead singer, double treads, coherent melody/beat, semitone old-fashioned chords crossed by rhythm and rotation, arranged neatly, not in a hurry, not showing your creative arrangement. For many years, the standard roaring death tradition is the distinctive symbol of this kind of band.

Slow death

(obituary, autopsy, my dying light in the early days, suffocation, early important remains, six feet below)

To slow down the rhythm and chord changes of common death methods in the late 1980 s is basically a slow death. Autopsy and asphyxia are pioneers in this field. The unhurried obituaries, usually called slow death, may be a feeling of slow death that they give the audience. The difference between them and Death at the End is that their lyrics are more violent and bloody. And from time to time, it will suddenly accelerate nervously and return to the true colors of death metal. It should also be noted that the so-called slow death is not a single death zone with obviously slow speed, nor is it a fixed style. This kind of zone only exists in the early root zone, and it is rare now.

Death rash

(Asphyxiation, SADUS, Messiah, MESHUGGAH, Early SEPULTURA, Incompatibility, Plague, Death, KRABATHOR, Mystery, Sadism)

Death itself comes from the percussion trend in the late 1980s, or at least is greatly influenced by percussion. It was not until the emergence of Florida-style death and Swedish-style death that death completely developed from the shadow of percussion. So knocking at the door has always been a major factor in death. As mentioned in the last article, many people think that American SLAYER and Possessed, German percussion pioneers such as KREATOR and SODOM are also death bands. In the early 1990s, there appeared many bands with dual characteristics and identities in Sweden, such as Choking Band, Sadus Band, SEPULTURA Band and Meshuga Band. There are also many pure death bands that use percussion chords, such as Messiah, Plague, Sweden's disunity, early VADER and even early killing. Metal percussion is one of the most brilliant schools in the history of metal development, and its charm and strength are still the creative source of many metal bands. Death and the origin of black gold. It can be said that death rock, the new wave of death in Sweden, new metal ... their development can not be separated from the creation of percussion music. Around 1993, when Death began to decline, many Death bands, such as Swiss Messiah, Dutch Plague, German Mogot, French Massacra, etc., began to seek a new way out from the starting point of percussion. Many bands that started against the wind in the mid-1990s simply faced the audience by knocking them to death: POSTMORTEM in Germany, KRABATHOR in the Czech Republic, suchlish in the Netherlands, sadists in Italy, etc. Since 2000, all kinds of schools in the 1980s have ushered in their renaissance era. The old-fashioned strike guns, such as German destruction and paradox, which have been dissolved for a long time, have been re-established. You can also play new talents such as HYPNOSIA in the Czech Republic to enjoy better market conditions. So what is death knocking at the door? The original concepts are: low throat of death, double drum death rhythm, guitar timbre reduced by half a degree and rhythm and chord treatment with percussion instrument characteristics. Now there are all kinds of extreme metals. If you think the death band sounds like percussion, it's percussion death.

A cruel death

(cannibalism, evil, malicious creation, death, oppressor)

For those crazier fans, the earlier death metal is not enough. Those melodies and atmosphere paragraphs are dross, and they like stronger voices. So the development of death becomes more and more fierce and cruel. The earliest spokesmen of this line were cannibals, who started with the extreme cover art. Although they always gave you a feeling of grandstanding at that time, time has proved that after years of tempering, they have become excellent big-name bands in all aspects. In the early 1990 s, there were many trends of rote learning, focusing on innovation and gameplay. Most death bands don't want to engage in simple and cruel death, and feel that they are not level. Although some die-hard fans think that these old bands are not enough, sinister hypocrisy is not so cruel in the eyes of die-hard fans now, but different times have different concepts. They are now being spit out and sexually active. Although cruel death is not a real genre or branch, with the band's continuous efforts in this direction, it seems that a new round of cruel death trend in the new Millennium is the only hope to save the death empire.

The new school of sadism [the new fashion of sadism]

(dying fetus, vomit, flesh and blood, rotten sound, puncture, tear, Nile)

Finally, 97 years later, the death metal surfaced again. This trend is actually a new interpretation of traditional cruel death (insidious, cannibalism, etc.). Approaching the new school, more and more fans like this kind of thing. The main areas of American deaths moved from Florida to new york and Chicago. However, the cruel death base in Europe has moved eastward from Sweden and the Netherlands to Eastern Europe, a land that has just emerged from the economic paralysis brought about by political changes. Poland, Czech Republic and other former socialist countries have made great progress in grindcore in recent years. In recent years, recording technology and equipment have lowered the threshold, and the speed of underground cultural communication has indeed been greatly improved compared with the early 1990 s. Coupled with the diversified development of metal music in recent years, the drive of cruel death new packaging is unstoppable. It is in this environment that many bands are slowly rising, such as new york's "Dying Fetus" 98 "Killing on Adrenaline", the album "Suicide Gallery" and "Bloodlust" of cannibals, and American underground pioneers DISGORE and DEEDS OF the Body, DEVOURMETN and BRODEQUIN. The cruel death of ancient Egyptian music elements with ill feelings reminds people of the name of the Nile Band. The Spell and Death, which have been accumulated for many years, have also won unanimous praise from fans through the brand-new creation of the record company. The success of the new packaging of the traditional metal school has also given new inspiration to the heads of other metal schools, and the once depressed traditional metal market has reached a brilliant recovery climax through this channel. However, the new cruelty is not just the new packaging. Combining the sound effects of Nu-Metal with the uncontrollable wildness of hardcore/grindcore music, and the superb music theory accumulation of old musicians who have been deposited for many years, the new cruelty is indeed a perfect redevelopment on the basis of the old cruel death. But the related record companies, large and small, once again saw a rare business opportunity. The new band or album began to compete who was more vicious and fierce, so 200 1 was a bit out of shape, and the cruel death began to transition to more bloody violence, hitting the territory of grindcore. See how extreme the concept of cruelty can be. ...

* * * In other words, strictly speaking, this is a changing concept. The new concept of brutal death is always changing in different times. When new and more cruel bands appeared, those old bands lacked cruelty. So you should never listen to this kind of music, because it is cruel and enjoyable, just like following fashionable teenagers, but you are more abnormal. ***

Blackened cruel death metal [evil and cruel death]

[Sacrifice, control, death, angel corpse, shelling, hatred]

Suddenly one day, we will find that many cruel obituaries are so dark. They have the most cruel and crazy characteristics of death metal, but they always reveal a little darkness. It should be said that the initiator of this kind of band is pathological angel, waiting for the band at the gate, but with new technology, new equipment and new concepts, the band style is more rude and crazy, and the standard roar and endless overstepping have enhanced their tyrannical atmosphere a lot. In the past, it was only a mixture of brutal death styles, but driven by excellent new works by old bands such as IMMOLATION and KATAKLYSM, a large number of bands emerged, especially Poland in Eastern Europe. The collection of darkness and cruel death is more and more abundant, and it has its own characteristics and becomes an independent team.

Grinding death [grinding core death]

(napalm death, cruel facts, pungent stench, insanity, mystery)

There are too many bands on this line. Many new schools have died miserably, called grinding to death. But this is a more out of control, more bastard way of death, reckless death. The earliest may be pungent stench and cruel truth. Later, a large number of bands like HOUWISTER and DERANGED appeared. But the death of grindcore is still the real death metal, just borrowed grindcore. Today's band is either grindcore or completely allied with the death of a new genre. Traditional grindcore death bands are rare.

Melody death [melody death]

(Love, Torture, Night Fall, Destruction Choir, Early Tiamat, Temptation, Tragedy Theater)

The death dilemma after 1993 led many bands to try other styles. More melodious death bands, such as AMORPHIS, my dying bride, TIAMAT and so on. , have added a more word to their original melody tendency. Melody death now refers to the traditional death of beautiful and tragic chords and medium-speed beats. In the past, people used to call NWOSDM melody death, but now it has become two completely different concepts. In fact, melodic death is a more melodic death style than mainstream death. But now I compare any traditional death with the present death, which sounds melodious. When death first entered China, melody death was the most popular. Perhaps other more extreme ways of death were not accepted at that time. But why do China people, who used to be melodic in music concept, now say that melodic death is worthless? It is an empty disguise to pursue superficial effect and despise tradition. Get out of here, poseur

Be doomed to death [bad luck]

(Winter, doomed, ominous prophecy, morning my dying bride, Kata Togna, morning TIAMAT)

Bad luck and death are not just chords and slow bands. Although this is a distinctive symbol of this type of music, to be exact, Doom is a tragic and desolate music with the lead singer as the main part because of the numerous chords created by the first metal band Black Sabbath. Later, the outstanding representatives of the metal world were Earl of Crow, Cathedral and Obsession. Although they are not members of the death family, the development of death in this direction in the early 1990s created the beginning of doomsday death. Lowering Doom's string by half a degree, changing one step to two steps, changing singing to roar, and twisting a more beautiful melody in a typical way of death are basically early bad luck deaths. I can't remember who was the first death band to try this music. Perhaps the most representative ones are Winter and My Dying Bride. The development of doordeath is not very long, nor is it very grand. In the late 1990s, there were probably more bad luck bands who switched to other directions than their peers who persisted or were reborn.

Gothic/bad luck, death [Gothic/bad luck]

Early paradise lost, my dying bride, cathedral, early TIAMAT, middle and early AMORPHIS, moon spell, festering, green end, graveyard, early party, torture.

In fact, the Gothic concept here and the concept of a separate Gothic school are two completely different concepts. He is used to describe a tragic romance and Gothic characteristics with a strong sense of sadness, and to express a melodious death with a beautiful atmosphere. Because at the earliest time, as long as a death band added female voices, keyboards or violins to its music, it would be called Gothic doom, and it might be similar. But I think the real formation of Goth's death is more due to the transformation from death metal to destruction metal. . The origins may be English bad luck, death, my dying bride, and Catholicism. By 1994, many death record companies were a little confused and wanted to switch to a slower and better melody. At this time of the nuclear explosion (N.B.), the albums released by bands such as AMORPHIS, PYOGENESIS and END OF GREEN are typical low-speed melodic deaths. Even the hypocrisy of "hypocrisy", who is still proud of the cruel death, is full of melodic doom in the fourth picture. Plus the success of bands such as TIAMAT, MOONSPELL or THE GATHERING. Gothic/doomsday death is in sharp contrast with the drive of death rock, and the world of death is divided into three groups: new death rock, stubborn death conservatism and easy-going melody Gothic doomsday combination group. There are two reasons why I limit the year of Gothic bad luck trend to 1996: one is to transfer a hand from the melodic death of 1996 to NWOSDM;; On the other hand, the Gothic Death Metal with a stronger Gothic atmosphere began to develop into a new branch or trend, that is, Gothic Metal [see Gothic Death/Metal]. Although Death of Melody can be regarded as the predecessor of NWOSDM and Gothic Metal, their later development has completely deviated from the original state, so the vague era of Death of Melody should come to an end around 96.

Epic Death/Black [Epic Death/Darkness]

(Basri, Primitive, Ximingborg, Crua Kan, Juvines, Mihotin, Early Emperor)

Epic is probably one of the oldest styles in metals. Of course, it will also affect the later development of metals. Most of the epic metal styles have grand, spectacular and atmospheric musical characteristics. Of course, the most important thing is epic lyrics, because music is a tool to assist thinking here. Especially in the field of extreme metals, the concept of epic has no fixed musical style or form. If you can find the similarities of the epic sample bands listed above, you may understand what extreme epic metal is. If you want to know about epic metal, you can listen to some old albums of Elf/Rainbow or Manovo below. The most influential epic metal works in the field of extreme metals should be the epic trilogy Death of Blood Fire, Hammer Heart and Twilight of the Gods in the middle period of Bathory.

Dead core

(Master/Death Strike, MATYR, pungent stench, MANOS)

There seems to be such a branch of the nuclear family called dead core, but it has nothing to do with dead metal, and it is not the dead core I am talking about here. Dead core should be a unique style pioneered by MANOS, which combines the pungent smell of grindcore's dead body or the hard core. In fact, death accounting is not a real branch of death, it only exists in a few death zones driven by development direction. I like listening to the old master and the pungent stench. It is rare to hear the name death core mentioned. Most of the styles belonging to this band are a little jumping and mixed. It's similar to death rock, but it doesn't pay so much attention to recording conditions or music theory skills. I think the core of death is the crystallization of the dead family and the nuclear family. Perhaps it can be said that Death Core is a nuclear band that plays death.

Industrial death

(Go Frayche, Skron, pitcher, fear factory, soul flying, SEPULTURA, napalm death)

I don't like this kind of thing very much, so I don't know much about the development of this branch. Otalgia has released countless such bands, and I haven't paid much attention to them. Because in my impression, the concept of industry should be closer to so-called alternative rock music such as electronics/noise/nuclear, that is, music that is incompatible with persistent metals or death. Especially in the rigid early 1990s, this view was very common. Pitchfifter and Fear Factory seemed to be the only death bands that could stand under the industrial banner at that time. 1993, the traditional death market began to decline in industry. The downward trend of death records is not obvious in the eyes of fans. However, magazines focusing on death suddenly began to pay tribute to industrial metals or industrial death, which made fans who could not understand it even more tired of industrial concepts. The wrong path of the recording industry failed. However, their efforts to find new selling points were soon satisfied on the Nu-metal aircraft carrier. A few years later, death gradually came out of the trough and became more mature, and everyone no longer resisted new things. The industry/hardcore development between SEPULTURA and napalm Death, two respected leaders, was finally recognized by most fans of Death.

the rockin' dead

Late burial, late corpse, late blood sacrifice, shame, lubricant, late Massachusetts, late Mogot, late plague, laxity, recent blessing, late napalm death. )

In fact, this way of death playing rock hard core has always been very popular in Finland. Shame or Lubricant is not a big name in Finland, but their performances are very popular, but not many people outside Finland can know about these bands. The most people can think of is HELLICOPTERS. Compared with metal bands such as AMOPHIS, it is unattractive. This kind of lively and noisy music is similar to monkey playing for die-hard fans. It is neither serious nor firm, but when you get used to it, you will find it is actually cool, enjoyable, active and explosive. May be more suitable for the state of the party [party, disco, live, etc. ], a bit out of place with death. However, during the Great Depression of Death Metal, many big-name death bands changed in this direction, which brought death to this music form and developed into a branch style of death.

Terror death

[necrophilia, pustulosis, the dead, autopsy, undertaker]

Influenced by some horror movies and novels, many early obituaries used music to tell horror stories. Asphyxiation, blood, strangulation, puncture, pornography and flogging, which are the words that make people feel dirty and painful, are used repeatedly by them, and they get a kind of abnormal pleasure. They usually collect many classic dialogues and music from their favorite movies, which are used to run through all parts of the whole album, making these albums more like a movie recording. Generally, you will see a long list of words of thanks on the inside pages of records, thanking those classic horror movies for giving you inspiration. In addition to sampling, they also have a set of methods to create their own atmosphere, just like the black-and-white movies in the 1940s. Every detail of the story is expressed through music. It must be a horrible and bloody story, and the process of killing in the middle is their music. Maybe these musicians can become top horror film masters without making music. Rotten music, gloomy rhythm, as if smelling a corpse, seeing blood slowly flowing out of your record player until you can't stand it, or you are completely addicted to it.

Death under the influence of extreme punk

[Napalm death, invisible terror, explosion, cruel truth, current noise, internal conflict, terrorists, massacre]

This kind of band usually lurks underground. They are free and play underground extreme music that they think is truly free. Now some bands are famous, such as napalm Death, but there is no such music after they became famous. Napalm Death and British Invisible Horror are probably the earliest bands of this type. Many early grindcore death bands in America also had a "marriage" relationship with punk. Macabrez is still a band with a very good reputation. Their music is free, extreme and high-intensity, without losing their sense of technology. But also a diehard who can persist until now. Other bands have become famous and transformed, and the memory of their music is only respect for those later bands. There are still such new bands in the underground circle, which are only concerned by some local magazines and media. But who cares?

I think this thing is of little use. . .
