In Chinese, kungfu can be used in a context completely unrelated to martial arts, and in layman's terms, it refers to any personal achievement or skill cultivated through long-term hard work. [1] In contrast, martial arts is a more accurate name for general martial arts activities.

It literally means "martial arts". It consists of two words: Wushu (w ǔ), which means "military" or "military", and (Sh?), which is translated as "discipline", "skill" or ".

Wushu in $ TERM has also become the name of a modern sport, which includes China' s unarmed and weapon performances (routines) according to a set of contemporary scoring aesthetic standards. [2]

China Wushu can be traced back to the Xia Dynasty more than 4,000 years ago. [3] Their origins are attributed to the self-defense needs, hunting activities and military training in ancient China. Hand-to-hand combat and weapon practice are important parts of soldiers' training in China. [4][5] From this point on, China Wushu began to integrate different philosophies and ideas into its practice-expanding its purpose from self-defense to physical fitness, and finally becoming a method of self-cultivation. The influence of martial arts ideals in civilian society spread to poetry, novels and eventually into movies.

According to tradition, the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi, the traditional enthronement date is 2698 BC) introduced the earliest combat system into China. [6] The Yellow Emperor was described as a famous general. Before he became the leader of China, he wrote many papers on medicine, astrology and martial arts. It is said that he invented the method of angle offset and used it in the war. [7]

Martial arts practiced in Shang Dynasty (BC1766–BC 1066) and sumo in 600 BC (similar to Sanda) [8] are just two examples of ancient martial arts in China. In 509 BC, Confucius suggested to Lu Dinggong that people should also practice literature and art while practicing martial arts [8]; Therefore, Wushu began to be practiced among ordinary citizens outside the military and relief departments. The Book of Rites (65438 BC) mentioned a fighting system called "wrestling". [9] This fighting system includes techniques such as hitting, throwing, joint manipulation and pressure point attack. In the Qin Dynasty (22 BC1-207 BC), Jiaojiao became a sport. According to Hanshu, in the pre-Han period (from 206 BC to the first 8 years), there was a kind of unrestrained weak fighting and sports wrestling called "wrestling". The instruction manual of the former had been written, and the latter was called "wrestling" at that time. Wrestling is also recorded in Historical Records written by Sima Qian. 100 BC). [ 10]
