Most of the ordinary small cars use that type of drive
Often the engine position + drive method is used to indicate:
Front engine + front-wheel drive: FF
Front engine + rear-wheel drive: FR
Front engine + all-wheel drive: FA, AWD
Rear engine + rear-wheel drive: RR
and so on.
Usually, A0, A-class and most B-class cars are front-wheel drive (FF).
A few B-segment and C-segment cars are rear-wheel drive, such as BMW's 3, 5, and 7 series, which are all rear-wheel drive (FR).
Of course, there are also all-wheel drive models, such as Audi's with the Quattro rear badge and several Fuji (Subaru) models (FA).
Off-road vehicles, on the other hand, are a special case, with full-time four-wheel drive (AWD) and time-shared four-wheel drive (4WD) options. Vehicles with time-shared 4WD are normally rear-wheel drive, and need to be hooked up to front-wheel drive when encountering steep inclines or extremely rough surfaces.
Some supercars, with rear-mounted engines (also called mid-engine by some, mainly because the engine position is a bit more forward than in previous rear-engine models (such as the Honest Beetle), and there is only one row of seats), and rear-wheel drive (RR) or all-wheel drive (RA). Examples include Lamborghini, some Ferrari models, Bugatti, and so on.
