Rome wasn't built in a day? And how long has it been in history!
The date of the founding of the city of Rome is uncertain, traditionally believed to be April 21, 753 BC. Around the beginning of the second millennium BC, the Romans moved here from the northeast. Castles were built in the eighth to fourth centuries B.C., gradually forming the early Roman city. Rome became the largest empire in Western history in the 1st-2nd centuries A.D., and the city of Rome entered its heyday. In other words, the construction of the ancient Roman city took about 700 years or so.
Rome has a long history of more than 2,700 years now. As a world-famous historical and cultural city, the birthplace of the ancient Roman Empire, Rome is nicknamed the "Eternal City" because of its long history.
