What is the terminology of Chinese chess moves?

The term Chinese chess notation refers to the way the game is recorded.

The current notation generally uses four characters to record the movement of a piece. The first character indicates the piece to be moved. The second character indicates the code of the line in which the moved piece is located (for both red and black, counting from right to left from your side's bottom line), in Chinese characters for red and in Arabic numerals for black. When there are two identical pieces on the same straight line, the difference between the front and back is used.

The total **** of Chinese chess is 10 rows and 9 columns, Black is labeled from left to right 1 to 9, and Red is labeled from right to left 1 to 10.

The moves of each piece are represented by four characters, such as "rook 3 draws 4", "knight 5 enters 6".

The first character represents the strength of your side's pieces (i.e. what kind of pieces they are, such as rooks, knights, cannons, etc.)

The second character represents the position of the pieces, which is counted from the right to the left of the 9 vertical lines. Usually there is only one of your side's pieces on a vertical line (because each side of the game has only two of the same pieces, except for the pawns), or sometimes all of them are on the same line. Sometimes they are all on the same line, but sometimes they are represented by the front and back, such as the front knight five, so look for the knight in front of you on the board.

The third character is the tendency of the piece, usually advance, retreat, or draw:

Rooks, cannons, and marshals (generals) have advance, retreat, and draw.

Knights, Sangs (bishops), and Sergeants have Advance, Retreat, and Flat (because they move diagonally).

The soldier (pawn) has two ways of going in and flat (it cannot go backward).

The fourth character is the position of arrival.

To illustrate, here are two examples:

1. Knight 5 goes into 6, with Red advancing his knight from the fifth line on the right to the sixth line.

2. 5 into 1, Black's "general" on the fifth line from the right advances one step, such as retreating one step is one step back, and leveling one step is one step flat.
