How to upload antigen
Characteristics of antigen
Antigen Ag refers to all substances that can induce immune response in vivo, that is, substances that can be specifically recognized and bound by antigen receptor TCR/BCR on the surface of T/B lymphocytes, activate the proliferation and differentiation of T/B cells, produce immune reaction products to sensitize lymphocytes or antibodies, and can specifically bind with corresponding products in vitro and in vivo. Therefore, antigens have two important characteristics: immunogenicity and immunoreactivity. Immunogenicity refers to the ability of antigen to induce specific immune response and produce antibodies and/or sensitized lymphocytes, and immunoreactivity refers to the ability to react specifically with corresponding immune effector antibodies or sensitized lymphocytes in vivo and in vitro.
Incomplete antigen, that is, hapten, is a substance with only immunoreactivity and no immunogenicity, so it is also called incomplete antigen. Hapten can be combined with protein vector to obtain immunogenicity, which can be divided into complex haptens and simple haptens. Complex haptens have no immunogenicity but only immunoreactivity, such as most polysaccharides and all lipids such as pneumococcal capsular polysaccharide, while simple haptens have neither immunogenicity nor immunoreactivity.
