The transmission system is the power system that makes the car produce driving force, including main reducer, axle box, bearing, gear and bogie. Development history of automobile transmission system

Before 1898, the power output of the engine was directly transmitted to the drive shaft through gears, which limited the installation position of the engine to be close to the drive shaft, which made the modeling design of the automobile more difficult. It is precisely because of the invention of universal joint that today's cars with front rear drive and rear front drive have appeared, which indicates the maturity of automobile transmission technology.

1, hydrostatic transmission system

Hydrostatic transmission system is also called positive displacement hydraulic transmission system. It is mainly composed of oil pump, hydraulic motor and control device. The mechanical energy of the engine is converted from oil pump to hydraulic energy, and then from hydraulic motor to mechanical energy. Only one motor is used to transmit power to the main reducer of the drive axle, and then to the driving wheel through the differential and the half shaft. Another scheme is that each driving wheel is equipped with a motor. When the latter scheme is adopted, the hydrostatic transmission system can be cancelled for mechanical transmission parts such as main reducer, differential and half shaft. Because of low mechanical efficiency, high cost, unsatisfactory service life and reliability, it is only used in some military vehicles.

2. Electric drive train

The electric drive train is mainly composed of an engine-driven generator, a rectifier, an inverter (a device for converting direct current into variable frequency alternating current) and an electric wheel (a driving wheel with a traction motor and a reducer inside). The performance of electric drive system is similar to that of hydrostatic drive system, but the mass of motor is much greater than that of oil pump and hydraulic motor, so it is only used for super-heavy vehicles.
