The Construction Purpose of China Folk Artists Association

Its purpose is to collect, study and preserve Chinese folk literature and folk art, inherit and carry forward its excellent traditions, enhance respect and understanding of folk literature and art, communicate with international folk literature and folk customs, and promote the development and prosperity of new socialist literature and art. Since its establishment, the Association has been concerned and supported by the CPC Central Committee, Chairman Mao and other parties. Under the leadership of Guo Moruo, Zhou Yang, Feng, Feng Jicai and other successive presidents, the Association has gathered colleagues engaged in folk literature and art work all over the country. Under the guidance of the "two ones" policy, he collected, sorted out, edited and published a large number of works, which made great contributions to inheriting the excellent traditional culture of various ethnic groups and prospering socialist literature and art.

Especially after the 1979 Association resumed its activities, under the guidance of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Party, China People's Association and China folk literature and art undertakings developed rapidly. Up to now, except Taiwan Province Province, all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government have established folk writers and artists associations with nearly 5,000 members. The work field of the association has also greatly expanded. A large number of folk artists and craftsmen joined the association, which expanded the ranks of folk artists, made the work of China People's Association more comprehensive, scientific and systematic, and became closer to and deeper into the real life of the broad masses of people, and became an indispensable part of building socialist spiritual civilization.
