Temple Tradition of Fucheng Huangsi Temple

Fuchenghuang Temple was built in the 23rd year of Ming Dynasty (1669), which is the first city god temple in Taiwan Province Province and listed as a second-class historic site. Originally meaning city walls and moats, the city god later evolved into the patron saint of the city, responsible for the judicial affairs of the underworld. Like the local chief executive, the city god has different titles and configurations according to different jurisdictions and ranks.

Fucheng Imperial Temple is a building with three entrances and two dragons. The pattern is long, narrow and dark, and the gods are terrible and ferocious. The desk in front of the seat, the shackles of instruments of torture, the plaque warning Weah, and the abacus all reveal a gloomy and mysterious atmosphere; The plaque "Erlai" hanging high in Sanchuanmen has simple words but far-reaching implications, which is daunting. The main entrance is Sanchuanmen, White Hall, Main Hall and Back Hall in turn; The left and right hatchbacks became offices and cultural relics showrooms. The main hall is dedicated to Wei Linggong, accompanied by civil and military judges, seven lords, eight lords and the 24th Division. They are the gods and aides who assist the duke in handling the case. Among the 24 subjects, "School Administration" and "Examination" are the most popular.

People are convinced that after death, the soul must first report to the Chenghuang Temple, receive a preliminary examination, and decide whether to go to heaven or hell according to the merits and demerits of his life, so he is in awe of Ye. Because Lord Huang Cheng knows everyone in his jurisdiction, he often comes here for signs and advice when his relatives are missing.
