The octagonal drum opera of Inner Mongolia local opera
Octagonal Drum Opera, a local Manchu opera. The octagonal drum was originally a form of Manchu folk art. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, some Manchu people and artists in Xincheng District of Guisui City collected and compiled a batch of traditional octagonal drum repertoire, and established an amateur octagonal drum troupe in 1952 to create octagonal drum opera. The singing is composed of traditional octagonal drum tunes, the narration is in Mandarin, and the performance imitates the body movements of a drama, but there is no role or profession. In the first music, dance and drama performance of the autonomous region in 1955, the new traditional play "Dairing Flowers", which showed the love and marriage of Manchu youth, won the Outstanding Performance Award and the Actor Award. In 1959 and 1963, it was included in the "Collection of Chinese Local Operas". Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Volume" and "Selected Ethnic Minority Dramas". Since then, he has sorted out, adapted and created plays based on song and dance performances such as "Double Willow", "Flower of the Manchu", "Celebrating the Moonlight" and so on.
