What is the May 4th New Literature Movement?
Hu Shi, Chen Duxiu, Lu Xun, Qian and others received western education (then called new learning education) and launched a "anti-tradition, anti-Confucianism, anti-classical Chinese" ideological and cultural innovation and literary revolution movement, covering a profound cultural and political demonstration movement in Beijing in the early years of the Republic of China. The New Culture Movement marks that China intellectuals have subverted Chinese centralism, denied their own cultural values, acknowledged the harmony between western culture and democracy, and moved towards Eurocentrism.
