On the Importance of Restoring the Ancient City Wall of Lu Yi
The existing section of ancient city wall in the southeast corner of Luyi County is one of the few ancient city walls in the early Ming Dynasty in the Central Plains, with a long history and high cultural value. However, with the development of the times and the decline of defense function, since the Republic of China, the fate of the ancient city wall in Lu Yi, like most of the city walls in China, has also been seriously damaged, and now it is only 200 to 300 meters, which is embarrassing. In order to strengthen the protection of cultural relics and restore the face of the Millennium ancient city, the county party committee and the county government started the upgrading and renovation of Chentuan Park and the restoration of the ancient city wall as important basic projects in the declaration of "Millennium ancient county town".
As a kind of high cultural consciousness, the restoration of the ancient city wall has been widely supported by all walks of life in the county, which can be described as a popular project. But just like the front and back of a coin, no matter how good it is, there will inevitably be some incomprehensible voices. In view of some misunderstandings, this paper tries to talk about some personal views on the restoration of ancient city walls, including the reconstruction of ancient cities, in order to unify thoughts, condense knowledge and criticize and correct shortcomings.
1. Rebuilding the ancient city wall is the need of historical and cultural protection.
First of all, we must protect our long history. Historical and cultural remains are non-renewable and irreplaceable precious resources, and well-preserved cultural relics are the most direct and powerful proof. As a thousand-year-old county town, Lu Yi's surviving Ming Dynasty city wall is one of the important historical and cultural relics. Lu Yi has a history of more than 4,000 years since it was founded in Xia and Shang Dynasties. Since then, the relationship between the city wall and the ancient county of Lu Yi has been coexisting. The existing city wall in Lu Yi was rebuilt by Han Xian in the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369) (Lu Yi County Records in Guangxu of Qing Dynasty), and it was the fourth gate with thirteen steps of earth in nine miles, two feet high and one foot three feet wide. It has a history of 648 years, which is even older than the existing Shangqiu ancient city wall (the 19th year of Jiajing).
Second, precious cultural values must be protected. As an important city in the Central Plains in history, Lu Yi is located at the intersection of Henan, Shandong and Jiangsu, recording the historical evolution and political, economic, military and cultural development for thousands of years. The evolution of its ancient city walls is also confirmed by the rise and fall of dynasties and the changes of the times. For example, in contemporary history, around the ancient city wall, there have been historical legends such as Zhang Chao's hiring of the South City Wall to gain enlightenment, the peasant uprising of the three major Lu Yicheng, and Wei Fenglou's anti-Japanese "selling" Kuixing Building. Therefore, the ancient city walls of Lu Yi, as precious materials for studying historical changes and urban evolution and development, must be well protected, maintained and developed.
2. Rebuilding the ancient city wall is the need to keep homesickness.
In the hearts of generations of Lu Yi people, childhood memories are not only Laojuntai and Taiqing Palace, but also the unforgettable ancient city wall of Nanguan. Whether it is the joy of reaching out for a walk in spring or the feeling of looking up at the vast plain in autumn, the ancient city wall is like an old man carrying a young child on his shoulder. No matter how many vicissitudes he has experienced, he still silently guards the villagers in Lu Yi with wisdom and kindness. Now his body has been fragmented and unrecognizable. As a Lu Yi who has been taken care of by him for thousands of years, as a new generation born in the prosperous times, we have the responsibility and obligation to support and protect him like our ancestors. I also hope that after the last overhaul in 648 years, our old city wall will be rejuvenated in the near future and stand in front of the world again, becoming a new and beautiful scenery in Laozi's hometown.
Rebuilding the ancient city wall is the need of the development of the times.
First of all, it can accelerate the development of cultural tourism industry. Lu Yi is rich in culture, with profound historical accumulation, rich cultural connotation of place names, unique landforms and unique regional cultural characteristics. As a characteristic of Lu Yi, the ancient city wall of Ming Dynasty will be rebuilt and reappeared by the east wind declared as a "Millennium Ancient County", which will promote the development of Laozi's culture, speed up the reconstruction of the ancient city, dig deep, maximize the development and integration of Lu Yi's tourism resources, create an atmosphere of "Millennium Ancient County" and add new cultural support.
The second is to promote people's livelihood security through the development of cultural industries. Rebuilding the ancient city wall is also a major livelihood project. In Lu Yi's main strategy of "revitalizing the city with industry and establishing the county with culture", the cultural industry, as one of the important pillar industries in Lu Yi, has effectively promoted the development process of building a well-off society in an all-round way and a regional sub-central city in Lu Yi. Therefore, all measures to develop cultural industries, including the reconstruction of ancient city walls, are aimed at promoting economic development and improving people's livelihood.
Excavation and innovation are the source of continuous development of all work. In the transformation of Lu Yi's cultural tourism industry, we should not only create "seven belts and eight scenic spots", but also think and plan new impetus and new path for future development with a new position and a big vision. For example, while repairing the ancient city wall, we will take the "Ming Dow City" construction project as an opportunity to start the renovation project of some ancient cities in the county at the right time.
1, building a city with walls improves the pattern.
Although human history is very important, ancient buildings attract the world more intuitively. According to incomplete statistics, in recent years, no less than 30 cities have started the protection and restoration project of ancient city walls, including Wanzhou in Chongqing, Suzhou in Jiangsu, Jinchang in Gansu, Luanxian in Hebei, Zhengding in Shanxi, Taiyuan and Shouxian in Anhui. The ultimate goal of these projects is to restore and rebuild the ancient city features and enhance the brand quality of regional cultural tourism. The experience of Taierzhuang ancient city tells us that there is no antique building complex with only 3 square kilometers, even if there is no big and famous marketing means, it will not attract people. Therefore, Lu Yi should take the restoration of the ancient city wall as the beginning of the Millennium old city reconstruction project, as a new development engine of the cultural tourism industry, and pay close attention to planning and scientific design.
2. Grasp the kernel, dislocation development.
Characteristics are the soul of cultural tourism. In the future, the conflict of brand building in the renovation of the ancient city of Lu Yi is inevitable. We must base ourselves on our own advantages, find a correct position and develop homogeneous resources in a big pattern. Specifically, it is to grasp the cultural core and highlight humanistic reconstruction.
The first is to reshape the spirit of the city. Rebuilding the ancient city wall is not only a simple repair of an ancient city wall, but also a necessary physical construction to inject cultural connotation and restore the spirit of the Millennium ancient city. It is to feed back and nourish hometown folk customs with Laozi's culture and reshape Shang Xian's spirit of respecting Taoism and morality. Promote the world with Han and Tang culture, and revive the reputation of Lu Yi as a land of Longxing.
The second is to highlight the unique brands of the three cities. Highlight the three core cultural symbols of Lu Yi: "Oriental Rice City", "Hanxing Dragon City" and "Central Plains Water City". As we all know, the significance of Daocheng is no longer redundant. The name of Shuicheng comes from the geographical pattern of "Five Lakes Run Lu Yi, Nine Rivers Surround the True Source", while the meaning of Dragon City has three meanings, namely, the profound world view started by Lao Zi's "Youlong", the 400-year-old Longxing in the Han Dynasty, and the historical footprints left by many emperors visiting Lu Yi in Tang and Song Dynasties.
3, based on reality, local seiko.
The physical ancient buildings in the ancient city are indispensable carriers to embody culture. The roots of the ancient city of Lu Yi are in the old city, but the great destruction of the times has almost changed the pattern of the ancient city beyond recognition. However, due to the huge cost of demolition and other factors, it is impossible to tear down and rebuild the whole old city, even if the new city wall surrounds the old city according to the ancient pattern. Therefore, we can only rebuild some old cities based on reality, so as to get a glimpse of them and show the city by streets.
The first is to build a city in the city with the restoration of the ancient city wall as the guide.
Focus on the transformation of the eastern part of the city (Dongguan) with the richest cultural relics and the smallest population density. That is, taking the city wall as a model, county hospitals, Mingdao Palace (city), Chen Tuan Park, county tobacco companies, local products companies and other areas will be included, and a closed ancient city will be built in the east of the central city. Specifically, the Dongcheng wall starts from the existing residual city wall and goes north along the moat to the northeast corner of the moat behind the county hospital (the turret is no longer westward); The west wall starts from the intersection of the old water conservancy bureau (the back wall of Ming Dow City) and is built in a straight line south along the scenic river to the south moat (a new river can be dug south from the Xiao Xu bridge section of the scenic river as the west moat of this section, which is directly connected with the south moat); The south wall is a wall section connecte east and west. At this point, the trend of the city or the city wall has been formed.
The second is to build a water city based on the "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival".
To rebuild a number of landscape buildings, the ancient buildings in the ancient city should follow the practice of "building the old as the old" and restore some representative ancient buildings according to the data, such as Yi Wanzai Square, Wenchang Palace, Lvzu Temple, Huang San Temple and Baiyun Temple. , condensed and restored the historical pattern of streets and lanes in the old city of Lu Yi.
Lu Yi's personality and characteristics should be fully reflected. It is suggested that the time node of the transformation of the ancient city should be in the Tang, Song and Republic of China, and the moat and the area around the lake should be based on the "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" and learn from the style of Taierzhuang ancient city to create a "tang style Song Yun" amorous feelings area;
In the South City Wall (Tobacco Company) area, take the towns of the Republic of China as the keynote, and build a film and television area to seize the city. In the process of development and construction, we should pay attention to shaping the cultural individuality and characteristics of street buildings and small landscapes, make full use of historical and cultural resources, promote the development of tourism and commerce, expand the influence of traditional culture and improve the popularity of Lu Yi.
It is necessary to scientifically increase the river network. Dongguan, once the county seat, turned out to be a country full of reeds. Unfortunately, with the rapid growth of population, only Chen Tuan Park is left with lonely water. Everything is spiritual when there is water, and the landscape is more beautiful and accessible when there is water system. Relying on one lake (Chen Tuan Lake) and two rivers (scenic river and moat), the small tributaries of some rivers are excavated artificially, and a restaurant and music building street are built along the river to form the beautiful scenery of the ancient water town where rivers and water networks are intertwined. For example, in the construction of Ming Dow City, an east-west river can be dug in the middle of the pool in front of the mountain gate to form a "jade belt around the waist" trend, so as to draw living water to create the aura of Mingdao Palace and restore the ecological water system of the ancient city.
Three. Principles and precautions of transformation
According to the basic principles of protecting culture, inheriting history, rebuilding as it is, turning over the old and reviving the old, we pay attention to the overall protection of buildings and historical environment.
1, pay attention to the unity of form and technology.
The ancient city walls and city gates should reflect the characteristics of contemporary architecture and inherit the ideas and concepts of traditional architecture in China. Therefore, materials and buildings must be built by ancient methods, with lime and gypsum as the main raw materials and huge city bricks. Don't make it neither fish nor fowl, or it will taste better than nothing. If cement is not used, it is the most firm requirement put forward by the cultural relics department in the construction of the Ming Great Wall Ruins Park, based on the principle of "repairing the old as the old".
2. We should unify the content and scale.
Lu Yi is a water city in history. The water area of the original county town accounts for almost half of the urban area, but in the early 1980s, there was still a water town around Laojuntai (Mingdao Palace) in the eastern part of the county town, so it is not empty to call Lu Yi one of the few ancient water towns in the Central Plains. Although there is only one lake in Chen Tuan Park at present, the overall design must be fully done on the existing basis, so that the city wall and water can be organically combined and harmoniously unified.
First, show its original appearance and original state as much as possible, and maintain the original environmental atmosphere to the maximum extent. For example, the famous Kuixing Tower must be rebuilt, and the place near the lake inside the city wall should be as close as possible to the lake, so as to form a unique situation of Lu Yi Watertown.
Second, a new scene can be transformed reasonably according to the surrounding terrain and other different places. For example, build a new water gate where the scenic river enters the moat.
