How do the Japanese celebrate New Year?
Japanese New Year is the first day of January through the third day of January. The Japanese New Year is the New Year of the entire Japanese and world Yamato community. After the Meiji Restoration, the Gerry calendar was used instead. In fact, the Japanese New Year is similar to the New Year in our country, and it is also the most important day of the year.
Japanese people will write a New Year's greeting on New Year's Day, which is equivalent to our Chinese blessing. Good wishes and greetings that take away sincere blessings are written on top of a greeting card and sent to one's friends and family. Like in China, it is customary in Japan to give children New Year's money for New Year's Eve. New clothes are given to children, and adults and children perform a variety of shows on New Year's Day. There are folk dances in traditional kimonos and while Chinese people eat dumplings at Chinese New Year, Japanese people eat noodles in the evening and watch programs on TV.
In the Japanese New Year, a rope or circle made of grass is put up at the entrance of every house for a day to show a good sign. In Japan, boiled rice cake soup is eaten on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of a child to his or her parents. Japanese New Year also prepares a lot of delicious sweets and a variety of hearty meals.
