What day is the third day of the first month?

Chikou, also known as Red Dog Day, refers to the third day of the first lunar month every year.

According to the traditional customs in China, it is easy to have an argument with people on that day. In order to avoid provoking disputes, everyone does not go out to pay New Year greetings to relatives and friends, but only stays at home to worship God, so Red Mouth Day is also called "Little Year's Day".

China folks also say that the third night is the day when the mice get married, so most people turn off the lights early to sleep, so as not to disturb the mice (some people say that turning off the lights early at night is to make the mice invisible and unable to get married, so as to slow down their reproduction), and sprinkle some rice grains and cakes in the corner for the mice to eat, which is called "sharing money with the mice", indicating that they can enjoy a bumper harvest with the mice.

As for the source of the story of "the mouse gets married", it may be because the third day is Red Dog Day, and everything is not appropriate. In order to avoid evil spirits, it is an excuse to go to bed early; Moreover, from the Spring Festival to the second day of junior high school, I was busy for a while. If I don't go to bed early, I'm afraid I can't finish other things.

As for the Chinese New Year ballad "The first day is early, the second day is early, and the third day is full of sleep", that is to say, the third day is not only Red Dog Day, but also a busy day for several days. On the third day, it finally came to an end. You can get up late to make up for the sleep of the previous two days and stay healthy for a long time.

There are different customs around Chikouri: During the Qing Dynasty, chaozhou people and Hakkas had the custom of "going out to show their tombs", that is, going to the ancestral graves to pay homage.
