What is the purpose of the glow stick?

Glow sticks can be used for weddings, night fishing, entertainment, outdoor, military, engineering construction, underwater operations and so on.

Most of the fluorescent sticks are strip-shaped and wrapped in polyethylene (plastic) with a glass tube in the middle. The liquids inside and outside the interlayer are peroxide and ester compounds respectively. After impact, bending and friction, the glass is broken, which causes the reaction of two compounds and makes the fluorescent dye glow. Two of these compounds are peroxides and esters. After impact or bending, the two compounds will react and transfer the energy after reaction to the fluorescent substance, and then the fuel will emit fluorescence.

At present, a glass tube interlayer is usually placed in the common fluorescent sticks on the market. The glass interlayer is very thin, and peroxide and ester compounds are isolated inside and outside the interlayer. When people use fluorescent sticks, they either wave, bend or tap, and then these two compounds react to make fluorescent dyes glow.

Usage: The glow stick consists of two parts: a plastic tube filled with different liquids and a glass tube. When in use, the fluorescent stick is bent slightly, the glass tube in the plastic tube is broken and shaken gently, so that the two liquids are fully mixed to achieve the best luminous effect.

Luminous time: At present, the luminous time of light sticks ranges from 4 minutes to 48 hours, and its luminous time is inversely proportional to the ambient temperature and the initial brightness of light sticks.

Note: the liquid in the glow stick is inedible and has a certain viscosity. If it leaks, it is easy to pollute clothes, furniture, skin, etc. If the above situation occurs, it must be cleaned up in time; If the liquid in the glow stick enters the eyes, it must be washed with clear water or treated by a doctor. Therefore, it is forbidden to break the plastic pipe of the light stick with a knife or scissors; Do not twist the light stick to prevent the liquid in the light stick from leaking.

Transportation and storage: During transportation and storage, the fluorescent stick should avoid high temperature exposure and gravity impact or falling. So that the luminous time and brightness of the fluorescent stick are not affected, and the failure of the fluorescent stick caused by the early luminous of the fluorescent stick due to the breakage of the glass tube in the fluorescent stick is avoided.

To sum up, the luminous principle of fluorescent stick is simple, easy to use and widely used, but its liquid is inedible and dangerous to pollute the skin. Therefore, exposure and gravity impact should be avoided in normal use and transportation and preservation, and it should be used safely.
