It is an important basis for the study of the development of a nation and has a very precious value. The discovery of Huashan murals has filled the void of rock paintings in China.
Flower Mountain, located on the bank of the Zuojiang River in Ningming County, is about 25 kilometers away from the county town and 180 kilometers away from Nanning City. In its side of the river side of the cliff about 260 meters high, there is a group of huge scale, rich and peculiar pictures, which is the Huashan mural. This painting is nearly 200 meters wide and about 40 to 50 meters high, on which there are densely packed images painted with crimson pigment, and there are more than 1,800 of them. Among them, there are more than 1,300 large and small portraits of people, including one of the largest portrait of more than 3 meters high, head inserted pheasant tail, holding a dagger, hanging a sword, feet across the steed, mighty and majestic, as if a chieftain. The side seems to be a shining bronze drum, before and after the figures of some dancing, some jumping, some riding beasts, some waving swords, some holding shields, gestures are different, vivid and enthusiastic. What is the content of this painting? Some say it is a hunting picture, some say it is a sacrificial picture to please the god of water, and some say it is a pledge picture for conquest. Saying different things, so far inconclusive, visitors can play their imagination to guess. According to evidence, these murals are created by the ancestors of the Zhuang people, into the painting age of about 2000 years ago. Surprisingly, after such a long time of wind and sun, the mural color is still very bright, I do not know what the ancestors are painted with what pigment. More puzzling is in such as axe chopping like, towering dangerous steer on the cliff wall, those images are how to paint up? One enigmatic question attracts countless scholars and tourists to think and explore. In addition to the Huashan murals, there are more than 50 similar murals on the rocky mountains along the riverbanks for hundreds of miles in the Zuojiang River Basin, which are the valuable heritage of the ancient culture of the Zhuang people.
▲Legend of Ningming Huashan Mural
Once upon a time, there was a young man called Mengka in Ningming Nali, who was very strong and ate very much, and a meal of sixty pounds of rice was only enough for porridge, and one hundred and twenty pounds of rice was only enough for a meal.
On one occasion, he went to visit a friend in Po Ning, and after drinking wine, he walked to the edge of the village, and saw a yellow cow stealing grain from the field, so he took a big stone, five or six feet high and one or two feet long, and hit the cow. Because of the excessive force, the stone was thrown from Po Ning to Evening Pack, a distance of thirty or forty miles.
When harvesting the grain, his mother invited people to cut the grain, dry for a day, do not see him to pick, anxious to death, urged a few times, he only moved. He used a beam to make a flat burden, cut bamboo broken contempt to make a bundle of rope, dozens of people cut the day's harvest bundled as a load, and at the end of the cutter was also asked to sit on it, a shrug of the shoulders on the back of the pick.
Later, Mengka wanted to rebel against the emperor, but no horses and soldiers, so he drew on paper. He drew the soldiers and horses, after a hundred days can become a real person real horse. However, he couldn't let anyone know. So Mongkol had to draw alone in the house during the day and go to work at night. Because during the day everyone went to work in the fields.
The fall harvest, Mengka has painted more than ninety days, but at this time, an unfortunate thing happened: his mother saw him not work during the day, very suspicious and anxious, one day, while he was not at home, quietly into his room, open the box to see, who knew that just open the box, the painting of the soldiers and horses are flying out.
The soldiers and horses of Long Horn
Where did the soldiers and horses of Mengka fly to? We don't know. Later, a poor man from Long Horn Horn Yao Tun in Ningming went to Long Horn Horn (Huashan, the name of Long Horn Horn is Long Horn in the Zhuang language) to make a living by fetching firewood. Long Horn is the Zhuang word for mountain, and Lai is the Zhuang word for flower. The direct translation of "Long Horn Horn" is "Flower-faced Mountain"). When the woodcutter was not careful, he dropped his woodcutting knife to the edge of the cliff and slid down the cliff. The woodcutter climbed down the steep cliff to the foot of the mountain and unknowingly reached the Ming River. At that moment, he suddenly heard the sounds of gongs, drums, qin playing and opera singing coming out from a cavern. The woodcutter thought it was very rare, so he went towards the entrance of the cave. As soon as he got there, he saw many soldiers and horses stationed there. When they saw the arrival of the stranger, they all gathered around and inquired:
"Who are you?"
"What are you doing here?"
"I am a poor man who makes a living by chopping wood." The wood chopper said as he should, "I lost my woodchipper on the mountain and have come here to find it."
The samurai, seeing his distress, sympathized and pitied him. One said, "We have everything you want here, take your pick!"
It was then that the woodcutter realized that the cave was very wide, and that it was full of gold, silver, and jewels that glittered. But he didn't want anything but a woodchopper and two pounds, saying, "Enough for me to eat today will do, I can't chop wood today."
Since then, when the people of Long Horn Miao Tun encountered difficulties in their lives, they would go to the cavern to find a solution for them, and young people would go to the cavern to borrow one or two sets of clothes for their relatives, and girls would go to the cavern to borrow jewelry for their songs. But used up on the take to return, not to take. Later, a greedy person borrowed not return, the cavern automatically closed. That greedy people harbor a grudge, the matter told the emperor, the emperor thought that the cavern in the soldiers and horses must be the soldiers and horses of the Mengka, they sent a lot of people to fight, the soldiers and horses in the cave were outnumbered, the result of all were killed. Blood, heads and corpses were everywhere, reflected on the cliffs by the Ming River, forming the present mural.
In the future, whenever there was a cloudy or rainy day, when you walked to the riverside or the mountain side, you could still faintly hear the sound of wailing. With a heavy heart, people lamented the misfortune of the samurai, so they invited monks and priests to perform the rituals and prayed for their spirits to ascend to heaven.
At the end of the festival, people found that the hole was opened and a golden pot was revealed. Everyone was so happy that they wanted to take the pot out and use it. However, the hole was too small for people to enter. People reached in with their hands to pull, three pull two pull, the pot ear pulled off, the hole and closed up. People pull out of the pot of gold ears, to the gold store to exchange, the money received to pay off the cost of the Bun Festival, only a penny left. We feel that the money is not good to share, buy things are not good to buy, then simply thrown to the river. This throw, but attracted a flood, the flood washed through the Long Horn opposite the barren slopes, after the water receded, there was a sandbar, we realized that this penny is a treasure. Now the sandbar is as round as a penny, and the land is so fertile that people grow sugarcane and peanuts on it, and have a good harvest every year.
Since then, the door to the cavern has never been reopened, nor have we heard the sounds of gongs, drums, zither playing, or opera singing. People want to find the entrance to the cave, always can not find, just heard that there is a smooth place like a stone tablet on the bank of the river is the entrance to the cave. And Huashan mural of human and animal graphics, is the image of those martyrs. Whenever the wind, thunder, heavy rain, mural graphics have some peeling, the old man said: they went elsewhere to life, to do what they have not done na.
