The expression of date and month in calligraphy

There are two ways to write the date in calligraphy:

1. In traditional calligraphy, the inscription time is the calendar year of heavenly stems and earthly branches, such as Jiazi Year, Ugly Year and Bingyin Year, and there are more months, such as spring month, autumn month and winter month, which are subdivided into mid-spring, early spring, mid-autumn festival and early autumn. Anyway, heavenly stems and earthly branches is used for writing, such as 20 18 this year.

2. Hard-pen calligraphy can be written in the above traditional format or modern format. The modern format is very simple, just write it according to daily practical writing. For example, this year is March 3, 20 18, so write: March 3, 20 18.

Extended data:

In ancient times, letters, calligraphy and paintings all had inscriptions. When giving gifts, the name and date were written vertically with a brush to indicate the giver and the recipient. This is also a form of expression of calligraphy art. A calligraphy work should be completed in a holistic sense, and the inscription can show the accomplishment and talent of a calligrapher.

Ancient painters and painters generally used the method of combining the emperor's year number with the official calendar and lunar calendar to record the year, month and day as needed. For example, Wang Xizhi's Preface to Lanting: "Yonghe is nine years old and ugly at the beginning of spring"; "Yonghe Nine Years" is the year number of the emperor, and "Guichou Year" is the year of the dry calendar. Another example is Shi Huizhan's "Buddha said that he was born": "Chen Taijian is eight years old, report it."
