The main purpose of Germany's implementation of Industry 4.0 strategy is to realize the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry.

There is never a lack of new concepts and ideas in the field of information technology, but there are only a handful of development ideas that can be widely recognized and spread rapidly by all walks of life. At a time when the new generation of information technology is widely popularized, the transformation of production mode is advancing, and countries have put forward new ideas for the development of manufacturing industries such as digital manufacturing, industrial internet and energy internet, Germany, as a traditional industrial power in Europe, needs a new idea that can not only inherit the traditional industrial development ideas, but also inspire future industrial trends, seize the commanding heights of development ideas, and lead German industry to continue to maintain its leading position in the world.

It is against this background that the concept of "Industry 4.0" appeared in Germany. The greatest success of this concept is that it perfectly integrates hundreds of years of industrial development history with the trend of modern information technology. It is the unity of inheritance and innovation, theory and popularization, seriousness and fashion, and its spread speed, breadth and depth also exceed the expectations of Germans.

The concept of "Industry 4.0" means that mankind will usher in the fourth industrial revolution, which is based on the Information Physics Fusion System (CPS) and marked by highly digital, networked and self-organized production. The so-called "Industry 4.0" is a production mode combining virtual production with reality. In the future, the manufacturing industry will achieve higher engineering efficiency, flexibility and shorter time to market. The development process and complexity of industry 1.0 ~ 4.0 are shown in Figure 6- 1. In the era of "Industry 4.0", the virtual world will be integrated with the real world. Through computing, autonomous control and networking, people, machines and information are interconnected and integrated, which is the industrial vision described in "Industry 4.0".
