What does the medical dressing include?

Classification of medical dressings

1 natural materials

1. 1 Traditional cotton dressings in plant dressings, including cotton, gauze, bandages, etc. It has the characteristics of good water absorption, heat preservation, heat resistance and alkali resistance, and is still widely used in all kinds of wounds.

1.2 animal dressing is mainly used for treating burns and skin transplantation.

1.3 Silica gel mineral processing in mineral processing is a polymer composed of silicon and oxygen atoms through carbon-hydrogen bonds. Physical and chemical properties are stable, insoluble in water, no chemical reaction after heating, and a certain viscosity.

2 synthetic materials

2. 1 membrane dressing membrane dressing is made by coating pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side of biomedical membrane. Most materials used to make films are transparent elastomers, such as polyethylene, polyacrylonitrile, polycaprolactone, polylactic acid, polytetrafluoroethylene, plasticized PAC, polyurethane and silicone elastomers.

2.2 Liquid dressings Liquid dressings can be thinly coated on the skin by spraying, brushing or other methods as a protective layer or drug carrier, so they are also called spray dressings.

2.3 hydrocolloid dressing hydrocolloid dressing consists of polymer matrix and hydrocolloid mixture combined with the matrix.

2.4 hydrogel dressing hydrogel dressing uses hydrogel materials on a permeable polymer liner.

2.5 Foam dressings Foam dressings are porous in structure, and have great absorption capacity for liquids, and oxygen and carbon dioxide are almost completely permeated.

2.6 Alginate dressing The raw material for making alginate dressing is alginic acid extracted from seaweed. Alginate is an insoluble polysaccharide similar to cellulose, which is converted into calcium salt when making dressing.

Three kinds of medical dressings

In order to protect and treat wounds more effectively, many dressings use pharmaceutical ingredients, thus becoming medical dressings. The most common method for preparing medical dressings is impregnation or coating. The common varieties are surgical disinfection dressing (such as chlorhexidine dressing), medicinal ointment dressing (such as erythromycin dressing) and traditional Chinese medicine oil dressing (such as purple elm butter gauze).

Step 4 fix the dressing

4. 1 Adhesive materials Adhesive materials used for fixing include adhesive bandages and gauze, adhesive bandages and gauze, acrylic adhesive tape and zinc oxide rubber cloth.

4.2 Non-adhesive materials Non-adhesive materials used for fixation include ordinary bandages and elastic bandages.
