What are the general characteristics of African dance?
The overall characteristics of African dance are: rough and wild, exaggerated and enthusiastic, free and unrestrained. It is characterized by jumping up and down, jumping in the air, kicking and twisting the hips. The hip movements of southern dance are flexible and free, while those of northern dance are mostly concentrated on chest, arms and head, with strong movements. Besides, stilt dancing and snake dancing are both technical performances.
